Boxing: Sam Peter Beats Ron Aubrey By 1st RND KO

Former NABF, IBA, and WBC heavyweight champion Samuel ‘the Nigerian nightmare’ Peter knocked Ron ‘the iceman’ Aubrey out in the first round of their fight at the OKC Downtown Airpark in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on Saturday night.


Peter (35-5, 28 KOs) needed just 2:34secs to end the main feature of the ‘Rumble on the River’ contest with the former ECHL hockey enforcer turned boxer in 2007 (12-4, 12 KOs).

It was the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’s’ first appearance since 2011, when he lost in the ninth round of his fight with Robert Helenius in Germany. It also marked Aubrey’s return from a two-year break.

Peter is best remembered for his double triumph over James Toney, as well as his two-time losses to Wladimir Klitschko, and brother Vitali.


In the co-main feature, former welterweight and super welterweight world champion Ricardo ‘el matador’ Mayorga (30-8-1, 24KOs) needed just 63secs to beat Allen ‘funky cole’ Medina (9-24-1, 1 KO).


Mexico’s former IBF light middleweight champion ‘yory boy’ Campas (103-17-3, 79KOs) won a six round unanimous decision over Julio Cesar Lanzas (8-20-6, 1 KO) among other undercard features.
