2015: Ex-militants Threaten To Cut Fuel Supply To North If They Oppose To Jonathan’s Re-election

Ex-militants in the Niger-Delta have threatened to cut off the supply of petroleum products to Northern Nigeria if the North oppose the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

At their meeting in Oron, Akwa Ibom State, the militants also threatened to ensure that the North did not benefit from crude oil proceeds generated from the Niger Delta region.

The ex-militants under the aegis of the Leadership, Peace and Cultural Development Initiative assessed the handling of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, projects by contractors at their meeting.

President of the group, Mr. Reuben Wilson, said that their interest was to ensure that Jonathan returned to office in 2015, while anybody opposed to the idea would be considered an enemy of the region.

“We met in Oron to review developments in the country, particularly the interest of the Niger Delta people. You will agree that the Niger Delta is the main stay of the nation’s economy. You will also agree with me that the Niger Delta people are sustaining the economy at great inconveniences and pains to its people and the environment. This has been the only time that the region has had the privilege of producing a president for the country.

“It is unthinkable that the North will be plotting against our son, intimidating him with bomb blasts here and there and causing the untimely death of scores of innocent Nigerians, all because they want to take back power.

“We have always seen the need for us to live together as one indivisible country and that is what Mr. President believes in,” Wilson said.

Police Uncover Human Parts ‘Depot’ In Ilorin

Abandoned buildings along Lagos‑Ilorin expressway near the Ilorin International Airport, suspected to be hideout for criminals dealing in human parts and other nefarious criminal activities have been discovered by men of the Kwara State command.

The policemen discovered several items in the six buildings of about 18 flats, said to be owned by an 85-year‑old socialite, including decomposed human parts, a decomposing headless body, decomposed human feet, snail shells, piece of cloth suspected to be used in strangulating victims, under-wears, NYSC caps, shoes, eye glasses, hand set cover, sandals, among other personal belongings, were found in the abandoned buildings.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, said this during a press conference yesterday at the Police Headquarters, Ilorin.

According to Aisabor, the command’s special undercover agents, with information from members of the public, discovered the criminal hideout on Saturday.

“We have made another breakthrough in our efforts to ensure that we chase out criminals from this state and ensure that residents live in peace,” he said.

He added that the identified buildings have inscription of “For Sale” written all over them. “They are located near NASFAT praying ground, with a road separating the fenced buildings and the praying ground.”

The police boss, who said no arrest has been made so far, added that the aged socialite, who allegedly owns the place and suspected to be a native of Oro town in Irepodun Local Government Area of the state, was being interrogated.

The Kwara State Police Commissioner, who also paraded one Ganiyu Lawal, suspected to be a robber, said the suspect removed a Toyota Camry, with number plate Lagos APP 645 AN, from where it was parked in Ikorodu, Lagos. [Vanguard]

3 Personal Beliefs that Could Be Harming Your Marriage

Do you know your personal values, ideals and goals significantly contribute to the behaviors you display in your relationship? Unfortunately not all of them are suitable for a marriage. We aren’t usually intentional or even mindful of the language, emotions and actions we use daily or where they originate. As one would assume, who we are, as an adult. is the aftereffect of how we were raised as a child. We are all a product of the verbal and nonverbal messaging presented in our homes.

It’s easy to discount that thought when dealing with the challenges of having a committed relationship. We have an inclination to do what appeared to have worked for our parents. Many childhood observations transform into our grown up beliefs. Again, a number of those beliefs are quite damaging, let’s examine a few.

Using words as weapons is a toxic belief that literally destroys marriages. If loud, disrespectful conversations were customary in the childhood home, it now becomes tolerable in the adult relationship. Many of us believe this is the only way to communicate. What we fail to realize is our message gets lost, we are no closer to a resolution, and that behavior slowly begins to shatter the foundation of the partnership. As adults, we possess the power to control our choice of words as well as their delivery. Pausing before we speak and acknowledging this is a person we actually love should help suppress our desire to lash out.

Making your spouse feel expendable is another unhealthy relationship belief. Those of us who grew up in a single parent home witnessed that one parent make all of the decisions without relying on input from anyone else. Quite naturally, we carry that belief into our grown up relationships. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always benefit the relationship. Independence is sexy to some and empowering for the person who owns it. However, being too Independent and behaving in such a way that our partner questions their purpose in the relationship is dangerous. Not allowing our mates to contribute to the decision-making, financial planning, and child-rearing, challenges the very idea of partnership. Trusting our partners with our hearts and future, as well as showing him/her they are needed is very necessary for marriage success.

Thinking spiritual guidance, therapy or counseling is only for “crazy folks” is one more harmful belief. Many of us witnessed our parents struggle through internal battles and personal difficulties and never seek help or guidance. The effects caused destructive behaviors which led to unhealthy relationships. It may have been taboo when we were children, but couples and individuals do themselves a disservice when they suffer in silence. Prayer and consistent worship practices are essential to a grounded marriage. Therapist, Counselors and Coaches are equipped with the training, life experience and tools to assist us in overcoming many of the daily battles we face. Making our self-care a priority not only heals us, it restores our marriage as well.

If you have been practicing any or all of the beliefs listed above, it is time to take a deeper look into the impact it has on your relationship. Whenever our marriage experiences those moments of strife and struggle, it is a must that we examine the personal beliefs we’ve brought into the partnership.

Couples cannot prosper and build the relationship they desire if becoming more aware of destructive beliefs isn’t consistently practiced. Once we recognize what they are, why they exist and the potential damage they cause, we can begin the work. That work includes knowing we need a spiritual foundation and connection, and pursuing the individual transformations we need to be successful in love and marriage.

3 Ground Rules to Set in a New Relationship

article-2014616610105736657000 New relationships can be scary.

Has it been a long time since your last relationship? Did it end badly? Maybe you’re just excited to be back in the dating game?

If you’ve recently entered a new relationship, don’t be afraid to set some ground rules. Every relationship has them, whether they’re explicitly discussed or not. It is important that both you and your partner know what you are getting into and avoid assuming things you may think are standard rules of thumb.

Before you let the anticipation of a new relationship build up, take a step back and think about how you can make it better and more resilient than your last.

1. Decide what your deal breakers are.

You’re not with your last partner for a reason. What was it? Determine what you will tolerate, what you won’t, and likewise for your partner. Use this discussion to define how exclusive your relationship is and identify what didn’t work in the past for both you and your ex.

Set clear limits about what you won’t stand for and understand the same for your significant other.

2. Be active in your relationship.

Even if you are established in a relationship, there is no excuse to stop trying.

Both you and your significant other should still feel as eager about your relationship on the hundredth day as you did on the first day. Don’t treat your relationship like a chore; it will always need work, even on the best days.

Communicate what you want (because even the best boyfriend or girlfriend can’t read your mind), and listen to what they want. Active and open communication is key, and without it, problems are more likely to arise. Find a way to incorporate both of your lifestyles into one and have fun with your time together.

3. Allow yourself to be loved.

Be open to new things and don’t keep your mind closed off from acknowledging that you really are as great as your partner thinks!

Accept risks and consequences because all relationships come with the ups and the downs. They are learning experiences, and if you don’t grow from them, you won’t be able to move forward in your current relationship. Love yourself, let yourself be loved by your significant other, and you will find it easier to love them in return.

It is important to lay down some boundaries in any relationship to protect your individual identity from being manipulated by the idea of being part of a couple. Having a solid groundwork to begin on will make expressing your thoughts and emotions easier in the future.

If you are upfront with your partner from the start, it will be easier for you both to take responsibility for your actions and resolve conflicts.

It’s okay to set limits and expectations about roles in the relationship. Start on the same page so you can be on the same track throughout your commitment to each other and have a healthier, happier experience with dating.

8 Simple Ways to Pamper Yourself

imagesuuu

It’s all too easy to get caught up in our hectic lives and forget that we need to take care of ourselves – our bodies and minds. Without this essential care we can become run down and over-stressed. Check out a few simple ways to pamper yourself so that you’re better able to meet the challenges of your daily life feeling your best

1. A Cup of Tea

Whether it’s black tea, green tea, herbal tea, it’s all good and each type brings its own healthful comforts. The soothingly warm taste of tea does offer a pampering break in the day; yet tea also boasts many important health benefits. For instance, chamomile tea is known to have a calming effect on the nervous system. If you’ve had a long and stressful day, a cup of chamomile tea can naturally help you unwind and de-stress. Green tea is known for its antioxidant protections and black tea is associated with reduced risk for various conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and even Parkinson’s disease. Give it a try and see how refreshed it makes you feel.

2. Hot Bath with Epsom Salt

There’s something about a hot bath that makes the day’s woes melt away. Adding Epsom salt to the bath is an extra special way to pamper yourself. Epsom salt is known for its ability to sooth the nervous system and provide relief from bad headaches. The magnesium in the Epsom salt can also help flush toxins from your body and even ease muscle cramps. You’ll feel much better when you step out of this bath and into a fluffy towel.

3. Massage

While it would delight the senses to book a world-class massage at a seaside spa in Cabo San Lucas, that isn’t always possible. Yet you can light a candle with a sea-breeze scent and elicit the services of your partner to give you a relaxing massage right in your comfortable home. Moreover, you can also visit a local spa for their massage treatments that will pamper you and help you feel like a new person when you emerge from their care.

4. Manicure and Pedicure

Pamper yourself with a manicure and pedicure when you’re feeling low. Just taking care of the little things helps you feel more ready to take on the bigger obstacles of life. These beauty treatments don’t take too long and yet they can bring so much pleasure that outlasts the session. You’ll feel great each time you catch a glimpse of your great-looking nails.

5. Dark Chocolate Bliss

Forget about the day and take a bite into the rich and delicious taste of a dark chocolate bar. Loaded with antioxidants, dark chocolate can give you an anti-oxidant boost and a jolt of energy. Yet the taste of chocolate satisfies a craving for something deeply satisfying and good. When you need some pampering that won’t disappoint, reach for some dark chocolate.

6. Read Something Wonderful

For some people, it’s a magazine and for others it’s the most recent recipient of the National Book Award, but a good read pampers the soul and is a great therapeutic use of time. Curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and enjoy ‘getting away’ with a good book. Though it can be hard to make time to read each day, be sure to indulge each week; you’re always so much better upon emerging from a book.

7. Eat Something with Wow Factor

Pamper yourself with a great meal after a long, hard week. Try a new cuisine or a new restaurant in your area. Dining affords such simple pleasures and it’s such a joy when you can set aside cooking duties and enjoy what another cook brings to the table. Comfort food doesn’t always have to be a major detour for your diet either; there are many healthy dishes that can nourish your hunger as well as your soul.

8. Rest Up

Maybe you need to sleep in or indulge in a nap, but that beauty sleep can also enhance your energy. If you’ve been putting in long hours and need to catch up on rest, try to work in some extra nap time. When you’re well rested you can think better and work better. Pamper yourself with some quiet slumber in your comfortable bed with some soft music playing and no distractions allowed!

Plane Diverted After Emergency Chute Opens In Mid-Flight

r-EMERGENCY-EVACUATION-SLIDE-DEPLOYS-600x275

A United Airlines flight bound for southern California with 101 people on board was diverted to Wichita, Kansas on Sunday night after an emergency evacuation chute inflated inside the aircraft in mid-flight, the airline said.

United flight 1463, which was carrying 96 passengers with five crew members on board, was bound for Orange County’s John Wayne Airport, south of Los Angeles, when the emergency chute accidentally deployed, the airline said.

“The flight diverted to Wichita … No one was injured and the flight landed safely,” United said in a statement. The Boeing 737-700 took off from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.

United said all passengers were seated at the time of the incident and added that earlier reports that a passenger had attempt to open the door in flight were false.

It said its maintenance team would inspect the aircraft to determine what happened.

3-Year-Old Killed By Ice Cream Shop’s Falling Security Door

APTOPIX Child Killed Ice Cream Shop

Authorities on Sunday were investigating how a metal security grate detached and fell from the facade of an Italian ice shop, killing a 3-year-old girl in front of dozens of people who tried to rescue her.

The girl, Wynter Larkin, was with her mother at the Rita’s Water Ice store in north Philadelphia where a fundraiser for a sorority and fraternity was underway Saturday when she was trapped under the falling grate, police and witnesses said.

Members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity rushed to get the girl out from under the grate and give her CPR, witnesses said. The girl was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“It took about 20 to 30 men to get that awning off of the baby,” witness Tracey Stanford told KYW-TV. “When they finally got it up off of her, she was just lying there, lifeless.”

Carlton Williams, commissioner of the Department of Licenses and Inspections, said in an emailed statement that there were no open violations at the store and no reported problems with its security gate.

“The Department of Licenses and Inspections will only inspect these gates upon report of a complaint of an apparent defect,” Williams said, noting that property owners are responsible for their maintenance, care and inspection.

Nevertheless, police Inspector Christine Coulter said the investigation was broadening to all other buildings on the block and, in particular, their security grates. But at this point, Coulter said, the incident appears to be “a horrible tragedy.”

The Philadelphia medical examiner’s office did not return calls and emails seeking comment Sunday on its role in the investigation.

Photos from the scene showed the black metal gate lying on the sidewalk, pink balloons still tied to it in front of the shop’s red-and-white striped awning. Several popped balloons appear trapped underneath the gate, which businesses typically roll down after hours to prevent crime.

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the child’s family,” said Linda Duke, a spokeswoman for Rita’s Italian Ice, the shop’s parent company. “Due to the current investigation we really cannot comment about the unfortunate incident.”

France 2-0 Nigeria: Loss of Concentration Cost Eagles Again

Two goals from set-pieces had Nigeria concede another second round exit, this time against France in the Fifa World Cup.

The Super Eagles have now failed for the third time to go beyond the last 16 as Paul Pogba’s header and Joseph Yobo’s unfortunate own-goal knocked the African champions out in Brasilia.

Emmanuel Emenike thought he had opened scoring for the Super Eagles in the first-half but his effort was ruled for an offside.

Nigeria were left hanging at the mercy of a superb Vincent Enyeama’s save from a Paul Pogba volley, as both sides went into the half-time break without a goal.

Victor Moses cleared Karim Benzema’s shot off the line after the break before Yohan Cabaye’s volley came off the crossbar.

Pogba headed home after Enyeama misjudged a floating corner and flapped it on to the Juventus midfielder.

Yobo spilled Mathieu Valbuena’s cross into his own net on his 100th Nigeria caps.

Having made their third progress into the second round of the World Cup- becoming the African side with the most appearance at this stage of the competition- Nigeria were hoping to become only the fourth African team to reach the quarter-finals after Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana.

With Moses and Ahmed Musa threatening the French defense for most part of the game, Nigeria lacked the final touch to seal the tie.

Emenike tapped home a powerful cross from Musa’ cross but the referee’s flag beat the Fenerbahce man to his celebration.

It took Enyeama’s alertness to divert Pogba’s close-range volley in a first-half period which both sides employed a rather too cautious approach.

Nigeria maintained more of the possession before the interval and they got the second-half underway in similar fashion.

But Hugo Lloris was quick to stop Osaze Odemwingie’s low shot soon after the restart.

Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema then combined brilliantly with substitute Antoine Griezmann but saw his shot bounce underneath Enyeama’s body on towards goal, before Moses cleared it off the line.

Nigeria pushed for a leveler but were stabbed again when Yobo flicked Valbuena’s low cross into his own net.

France progresses to the last-8 and will meet winners of the match between Germany and Algeria.

Suarez “Apologises” for Biting Chielini

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has apologised to Giorgio Chiellini for biting his shoulder in his country’s final World Cup group match against Italy.

Fifa handed the Liverpool striker a four month ban from all football-related events, a nine month suspension and a fine.

“For this I deeply regret what occurred,” Suarez, 27, said in a statement.

“I apologise to Giorgio Chiellini and the entire football family. I vow to the public that there will never again be another incident like this.”

Luis Suarez Apologises for Biting at the World Cup, Says It Will Never Repeat Itself Again.

Suarez has previously denied biting the ‘Azzurri’ defender, claiming he lost his balance in a tangle with Chiellini.

He sat out 17 matches altogether for biting PSV’s Otman Bakkal while at Ajax in 2010 and Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic while playing for Liverpool in April 2013.

His recent act sees him rake up a staggering 26 games ban for biting an opponent and also earns him the biggest suspension in World Cup history- a game more than that handed Italy’s Mauro Tassoti for elbowing Spain’s Luis Enrique in 1994.

“After several days of being home with my family I have had the opportunity to regain my calm and reflect about the the reality of what occurred during the Italy-Uruguay match on 24 June 2014.

“Independent from the fallout and the contradicting declarations that have surfaced during these past days, all of which have been without the intention of interfering with the good performance of my national team, the truth is that my colleague Giorgio Chiellini suffered the physical result of a bite in the collision he suffered with me,” Suarez added.

Chiellini, who himself had tagged the ban “excessive” responded to the statement via Twitter saying: “It’s all forgotten. I hope Fifa will reduce your suspension.”

In the meantime, the player voted PFA Players’ and FWA Player of the Year last season is set to miss the first nine games of the Premier League season, with his return date slated for October 26.

Keshi Resigns After Super Eagles World Cup Ouster

Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi has resigned his appointment after the Nigerian national team was knocked out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup by France.

Keshi spoke to journalists after the Eagles were eliminated in the round of 16 match in Brasilia, Monday, stating that it was time to move on.

“I have to go back to my family and face fresh challenges,” said Keshi.

Also, Super Eagles Captain, Joseph Yobo has also call it quits with the national team after winning 100 caps.

“I think I should give the younger ones the opportunity to forge ahead. I have nothing new to offer,” the Norwich City defender said.

Nigeria was beaten 2 – 0 by France in their round of 16 match at the ongoing as the quarter final qualification continues to elude the African champions. Ghana, Cameroon and Senegal have all made it to the quarter final stage in World Cup history (Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002 and Ghana in 2010). Although the stats did not favour Nigeria going into the game, having won only one of their last 11 World Cup matches, Nigerian fans were hopeful following the display of the team against Argentina. France however made sure Nigeria has to wait another four years to try again.

Although the South African Football Association (SAFA) has denied lining up Keshi for the national team’s coaching job, ‘the Big Boss’ is expected to get back to coaching as soon as he is ready to be back. He may not be the best tactically, but he has shown ability to grind out results when most needed.

Boko Haram Wants To Instigate Religious Violence In Nigeria – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday said Boko Haram’s attacks on churches in villages near Chibok, Borno, on Sunday were attempts to instigate religious violence in the country.

A statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr Reuben Abati, in Abuja, said Jonathan received reports of the attacks with dismay and consternation.

“I urge all lovers of peace and unity to wholly condemn the resurgence of efforts by agents of global terrorism to disunite and destabilise Nigeria by callously instigating violence among religious groups.

“The President shares the view of the most learned Islamic leaders and scholars that no true Muslim will resort to the mindless killing of innocent people’’, it said.

According to the statement, no true Muslims at any time, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, will redress any perceived grievance.

It expressed the President’s belief that the attacks and other similar atrocities by Boko Haram showed that its leaders and members were misguided persons who used religion to commit crimes.

“Jonathan urged Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs, to resist the new attempt by Boko Haram to undermine their support for the armed forces.

“He reaffirmed the resolve of Federal Government and security agencies to intensify ongoing efforts to rid the country of terrorists.

“The president assures all Nigerians that the Federal Government and security agencies will continue to intensify efforts to end Boko Haram’s senseless attacks.

“He commiserates with the families and churches that lost loved ones, members and places of worship during Sunday’s attacks’’, the statement said. [NAN]

He however reassured Nigerians that the digitization campaign is to ensure that those who cannot afford digital television are brought up to date in global television broadcast trend.

Maku stressed over 40 million “set up boxes” are made available to all the viewers across the 36 states of Federation maintaining “the flagging off of digital programming in the country will be one of the largest employers of labour in West Africa.

According to him, “There is going to be a serious exploitation in the TV contents capacity that would provide good programs and the country is going to face increase in number of television channels with extra available digital endless stations”.

Also speaking, the Director General, National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Mr, Emeka Mba said the digital switch-over will be vehicle in addressing economic and political challenges of people as well as improve their ways of live.

Mba commended Governor Jonah Jang for transforming the State-owned media, Plateau Radio/Television Corporation, PRTVC.

However, the State governor, Jonah Jang who also spoke at the event challenged the NBC to used the enlightenment campaign to allay the fears of Nigerians by addressing fundamental questions that will arise in the minds of the people.

The governor decried the decline and near absence of high quality local programmes and call for the trend to be reversed.

Jang reiterated the State’s preparedness in the switch over campaign saying, “the Plateau State government in line with this trend has spent over N2.5billion in the upgrading of facilities of the State-owned Radio and Television station to enable it fit into the global digitization technology”.

He called on Nigerians to embrace the trend in order to keep pace with the ever changing tempo in television broadcasting. [Vanguard]

1,555 Child P0*n Images Found At Rev Father’s Residence

A senior priest at a prominent Catholic school was caught with more than a thousand perverse images of children and teenagers, some in the worst category known to authorities, an Australian court has heard.

In March, Father Stanislaus John Hogan, 69, pleaded guilty to one count of using a carriage service to access child p****graphy and one aggravated count of possessing child p****graphy.

In sentencing submissions today, the District Court heard police had seized a collection of videos, images and magazines of children aged between three months and 16 years in his bedroom at Saint Ignatius College at Athelstone, Australia in 2012.

However, The Advertiser has subsequently learned prosecutors mis-spoke, and that the youngest children depicted were three years of age.

The court heard about 70 per cent of the 1555 images and videos were of teenage boys but Hogan also had five images and two videos classified as category 5 — which is saved for the worst type of child exploitation material.

Sophie David, for Hogan, told the court that a psychologist report indicated her client’s offending had risen amid depression associated with reconciling his s*xual orientation with his religious beliefs.

“As a result of his offending he has lost his vocation, his financial means and of course his reputation and distinguished career as an educator has been indelibly stained,” she said.

She said some of the offending material had been bought in the 1970s and 1980s when it was not illegal.

She asked the court to consider suspending any jail sentence imposed against Hogan because he was undergoing steps to rehabilitate himself, was unlikely to reoffend and there was no suggestion any of the students had been exposed to the illicit material.

The court heard Hogan had been the school’s rector at the time of the raid and he had held prominent teaching positions throughout Australia, including at St Aloysius’ in Sydney and Xavier College in Melbourne, during the past three decades.

Prosecutor Scott Swain said he strongly opposed any suggestion of a suspended sentence and indicated there would be an appeal if Judge Peter Brebner were to do so.

“His main interest was boys of low to mid teenage years which I note was the very age range of the students attending the school where he was employed,” he said.

Judge Brebner remanded Hogan on continuing bail to be sentenced at later date.

Karagounis Ends His Career With Greece Team

Greece captain Giorgios Karagounis and coach Fernando Santos were two people bidding the 2004 European champions farewells on Sunday, following the side’s elimination from the Fifa World Cup.

“This was my last game for Greece,” said Karagounis after Greece lost on penalties to Costa Rica.

“We wanted to stay in Brazil another week or even longer but you can’t change it now.”

Sokratis Papastathopoulos’s injury-time equaliser for Greece forced the last-16 tie into extra-time after leveling Costa Rica Bryan Ruiz’s opener at 1-1.

But goalkeeper Keylor Navas emerged the hero of the shootout, saving Theofanis Gekas’ penalty before Michael Umana slotted home from 12 yards to help ‘Los Ticos’ triumph 5-3 on spot-kicks.

The 37-year-old midfielder and Kostas Katsouranis were the only two survivors from the triumphant squad of 2004 to take part in Brazil.

Karagounis ends his international career with 139 caps and ten goals to his name. He says he is calling time on his journey with Greece’s national team to allow the younger generation grow.

“These games and experiences are a great launching pad for the future,” he said. “They will help keep the team on this level, something not always easy. We are Greece after all, we don’t have many means.

“The national team has grown up, younger players have won invaluable experiences. This is no small thing and as we helped the team come of age we hope it will continue to be as successful in the future.”

Coach Santos’ contract expired on Monday, after guiding them to their first knockout stage appearance at the World Cup.

Santos watched the shootout on television, having being sent to the stands.

5 Secrets To Understanding Women

Truth be told, experience has taught me that no one really knows the secret, not even women themselves. And in some ways, it’s counterproductive to even try to understand women. However, there are some needs women have that are generally at the root of much of the confusion surrounding what they want. As a husband, recognizing these needs has helped me understand my wife better and has deepened our relationship immensely.

1. Empathy

When your wife comes to you with her problems, the typical guy response is to whip out the tools and get cracking on fixing everything up. This works sometimes, but most of the time it ends up backfiring. Why is that? Because in reality, she doesn’t want you to fix her problems. She just wants to have someone who can empathize with her.

The power of vulnerability and empathy can fuel a connection in your relationship that will never be found in the simple response of trying to make things better. While the latter is always easier, it’s really the former that helps us to understand.

2. Safety

To go along with empathy, women want to feel safe. When they come to you with their problems, they want to feel like it’s a safe place, where they aren’t judged or dismissed as crazy or overly worrisome. They want their feelings validated. If you can’t provide that safety, don’t be surprised if your wife turns to her mother or her girlfriends to discuss her problems.

This desire for safety may also explain the physical desires of women. For the most part, women tend to want to date and marry someone taller than they are, or someone who is muscular. Those things are merely a representation of their desire to be physically safe as well as emotionally.

3. Self-esteem

The fact is that it’s not just women who deal with issues of self-esteem. They simply express that need in a more outward fashion than men do. Because of that, this need must be answered in similar fashion. They need to feel loved. They need to feel that you have confidence in their importance. They don’t need to be made to feel stupid or insignificant.

We live in a world where women are objectified everywhere they go. The expectations for perfection are overwhelming. Don’t allow yourself to get caught up in that culture. You chose your wife for several reasons. Remind her of those reasons often.

4. Don’t generalize

After all is said and done, it’s difficult to understand women because they tend to be subject to base generalizations. Whether it’s about their emotions or driving skills, some men tend to paint all women with one large brush. But that shouldn’t be the case.

5. Even with the aforementioned suggestions, each woman has different needs surrounding her. One way to approach empathy with one woman may not work with another. Each has her own personality, dreams and desires. So don’t get caught up in generalizing the needs of your wife. While she may sometimes “act like a woman,” always taking that approach can make it difficult for you to see her for who she really is.

Conclusion

There are a number of ways to tackle the age-old enigma of how women think. But in my personal history, I’ve found that most of them are wrong. Progress begins, first, when we stop trying to focus on trying to understand them and, instead, put our energy into just loving them in the way they need to be loved.

Skip The Deodorant And Eat An Orange: Natural Ways To Combat Body Odor

Most people attempt to cover up their body odor with a variety of products ranging from deodorants and scented body washes to creams and fragrances. However, a majority of these products have been linked to having a negative impact on health as well as the environment. In the case of deodorant, many popular brands contain an aluminum base and paraben and research has shown that absorption through the skin of such substances plays a role in an elevated Alzheimer’s risk and may also lead to a higher risk of chest cancer.

As for body washes, several contain microbeads that promise to slough off dead skin, while rejuvenating and brightening skin. Yet, these microbeads are problematic for marine life, so much so that Illinois recently became the first state to pass a ban on microbeads. The size of the beads make them unable to properly be filtered through water treatment filters and, as such, they make their way into the waterways where marine animals mistake their appearance for fish eggs and eat them. Many other states are following suit with legislation that would ban the distribution and sale of products containing microbeads.

Natural ways to combat body odor

Avoiding such substances, while still fighting body odor is possible and the way to do it may be as easy as turning to foods. Several foods contain nutrients that, when eaten, change the way odor is produced by the body and, in turn, keep unpleasant odors at bay. Even better, these foods are healthy to eat, so people gain the benefit of improving their overall health, while also tackling personal odor.

One key area of focus involves choline, a nutrient that Oregon State University researchers identified as an unpleasant odor-producing culprit. As such, it’s thought that diets low in choline can help reduce body odor. Vegetables are low in this nutrient overall; however, the ones with lowest choline have been identified as raw cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, kale and carrots. Fruits with low choline levels include pears, pineapple, watermelon, strawberries and bananas.

Furthermore, fresh citrus fruits, such as oranges and lemons, are considered especially effective in fighting body odor. New York City dermatologist and internist Dr. David Colbert said that “the acids in citrus fruits help flush water through your body. And because citrus also contains fiber, they move through your system slowly and flush out toxins that contribute to body odors.

Another finding involved a study that compared red meat eaters to non-red meat eaters. Chemical Senses published the study’s conclusion: collected odor samples from the non-red meat eating group were deemed more attractive and pleasant.

Joachim Low Unconcerned About the ‘Disgrace of Gijon’

Germany coach Joachim Low says he does not fear Algeria’s much publicised revenge mission for their controversial exit from the 1982 World Cup.

The round of 16 clash between Germany and Algeria inevitably brings to mind memories of their last World Cup meeting 32 years ago.

“Gijon?” said Low in his pre-match press briefing. “Forget it. No, that’s not a subject.”

Algeria- making their first ever World Cup appearance in Spain in 1982- stunned the then European champions West Germany 2-1 in their opening group game. They finished with two wins and a defeat from their three matches, which they completed before West Germany and Austria met in the final group game.

Germany Coach, Low, Says Forget 'Anschluss of Gijon'.

Germany Coach, Low, Says Forget ‘Anschluss of Gijon’.

A 1-0 win for West Germany over Austria would take both sides through at the expense of Algeria, and that was how the history panned out; leaving Algerian officials to cry fowl that the match was fixed.

As a result of the controversy, the final round of World Cup group fixtures now kick off at the same time.

“We have not even spoken about that,” he added. I know that in Algeria this is a subject which is constantly present and, of course, they are trying to motivate their team by using this argument.

“But the players of Algeria were mainly not born yet in the year this happened in Gijon, and our players – except Klose and Weidenfeller – had not yet been born. So these players have no idea what it was. That is over 30 years ago and that’s not longer a subject for us.”

Meanwhile, Algeria coach Vahid Halilhodzic insists his side are not over with the event which became known as the ‘Anschluss of Gijon’.

“We have not forgotten,” Halilhodzic said. “Everybody has been talking about Algeria and Germany from 1982.”

Algeria finished runners-up in Group H behind Belgium with one win, draw and loss each to book a date with a team rated 2o places ahead of them on the Fifa ladder. It is the first time ‘La Fennec’ have advanced into the last 16 of the World Cup in four appearances.

“Thirty-two years ago is a long time. I am very proud of what we have achieved tonight and we deserve to be here,” Halilhodzic added on reaching the knockout stage in Brazil.

“I think Algeria played a heroic match and our qualification for the second round is perfectly deserved.”

Germany striker Miroslav Klose is just a goal shy of becoming the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history, having recently drawn level with Brazil legend Ronaldo on 15 strikes.

Although the three-time champions will be without Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski who injured his thigh during their last group game win over the United States of America (USA).

9 Ways To Ride The Marriage Roller Coaster

article-2014616610105736657000 Like a roller coaster, a marriage is full of ups and downs. Sometimes, the marriage can be terrifying. Sometimes there are major corkscrews that make one feel ready to black out. And sometimes, marriage is a complete thrill.

The thrill, excitement, and bliss of marriage is easy and fun. It’s the hard times —the extreme lows, dropping off steep ledges, and painful corkscrews — that are the kickers. Those are the times one might want to jump off the coaster.

The marriage roller coaster isn’t easy, but it can be done. Remembering two things can help ease the terror of the coaster: enjoy the good times, and ride out the bad times.

1. Enjoy the good times

Take every good moment for what it is worth. Cherish the joys. Each joyful moment has the power to help push through the hard times marriage brings. Don’t take any good moment for granted. When the good times come, let them come, let them envelop you, and let them carry you onward.

2. Ride out the bad times

We all know the hard times are… hard. Some of these instances are completely excruciating. Sometimes we want to give up rather than ride it out. Difficult times in a marriage can be ridden out gracefully when we have empathy, vulnerability, patience, and love with our spouse.

3. Empathy

In marriage, many hardships can come from actions of the spouse. For the marriage to work, and to make it through this low part of the coaster, empathyis crucial. Recognize the spouse is suffering, too. When the spouse expresses his thoughts or feelings, validate them and show him you understand. Dig deep within yourself to find your experience with pain. Your experience with pain shows an understanding and enables empathy on your part. Realize that pain and sit with them. Empathy is invaluable in marriage.

Showing empathy will allow for a deeper connection and bonding experience in the marriage. At times, when spouses may feel like enemies, showing empathy can bring forth an attitude shift that could be surprisingly miraculous and healing.

4. Vulnerability

When trials arise in marriage, we must be able to talk about them with our spouse. It’s important to be open and transparent. As spouses are vulnerableand transparent, they can gain understanding of the other person’s perspective as well as learn things that might never have been said.

Vulnerability could be as simple as “When __ happened today, it hurt me. I felt like __.” Sometimes spouses don’t realize they have done something hurtful, and they won’t know unless it is voiced. Vulnerability isn’t always regarding spousal actions, though. Vulnerability can help one voice emotions/traumas/concerns regarding general life trials, and this ability to talk openly about life can increase marital connection during times that would be more prone to ripping spouses apart.

5. Patience

No one is perfect. No matter how much a person may seem like “the one”, problems will arise in the marriage. Patienceis key. Develop a softer heart that is less annoyed by simple things such as the way he chews his food or forgets to unload the dishwasher. Recognize that “thing” the spouse did may not have actually been purposeful to making you mad. Recognize the spouse may have had a really long day. Authenticity and vulnerability lead to understanding. When we understand things, we are able to be a little more patient with certain situations.

6. Love

Love isn’t a cure-all, but it certainly helps. After the butterfly feeling fades — and it will — remember the reasons you chose this person. When love seems fleeting or failing, it can be rekindled through small acts of kindness. Those small acts of kindness can help ease burdens and increase the ability to empathize and be vulnerable and patient. The power of love can help the marriage ride out the bad times when it is used appropriately.

When empathy, vulnerability, patience, and love are combined, the burdens of a marriage’s hard times can be eased. The good times are great, but it’s the trials and burdens that may cause a spouse in a marriage to want to jump ship. These elements to help ride out the bad times take practice. With practice, the pains of the hard times can be eased, and the marriage roller coaster can seem a little less steep, foreboding and dizzying.

Pogba happy at Juventus, says agent

pogba

pogba

The agent of Paul Pogba says his client is unlikely to leave Juventus ahead of the 2014-15 season, despite Chelsea’s interest in the midfielder.

Goal understands the Blues have prepared a lucrative package to entice the French youngster to Stamford Bridge, though they would have to fork out at least €75 million [£60m] for him to be allowed to leave Turin.

But Mino Raiola has insisted that while France remain in the World Cup no transfers will be discussed, though a move from the Serie A champions does not seem likely.

“We have decided not to speak of the transfer market with regards to Paul until after the World Cup,” he told Rai Sport.

“But I can calmly say that his future will still be at Juventus, where he feels very happy.”

Chelsea have already signed Cesc Fabregas, but with Jose Mourinho keen to play the Spaniard in an advanced role behind the striker, Pogba is seen as someone who can drive the team forward from a deeper position.

The 2013-14 Champions League semi-finalists had hoped the former Manchester United trainee would be open to a return to the Premier League, though Juventus had previously outlined their determination for him to stay.

And this latest development will please the hierachy at La Vecchia Signora, who are hopeful the 21-year-old will sign a new contract with Antonio Conte’s side.{GOAL}

Yobo to Receive Signed Eagles Jersey on His 100th Nigeria Cap

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have decided to have a brief presentation of a signed official jersey to Joseph Yobo in commemoration of his landmark achievement of claiming a 100th international cap.

The Super Eagles skipper will surpass the numbers of appearances ever made by a Nigerian in World Cup games, if he is selected by coach Stephen Keshi for Monday’s second round match against France in Brasilia.

He would be making his 10th appearance in a cup game, more than Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha and Nwankwo Kanu- the other two Nigerians to have featured in three World Cup finals.

Joseph Yobo Will Be Making His 100th Appearance In the Shirts of the Super Eagles, If Selected Against France.

Joseph Yobo Will Be Making His 100th Appearance In the Shirts of the Super Eagles, If Selected Against France.

The 33-year-old Fenerbahce defender will receive the branded jersey from NFF president Aminu Maigari at the team’s Brasilia Palace Hotel after the duel with ‘Les Bleus’.

Yobo made his Eagles debut in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Zambia in Chingola on 24th March 2001, which ended a goal apiece.

Prior to his promotion to the senior national squad, the player, who started as a striker and had also featured in the defensive midfield, came through the under-20 ranks and was one of the standout performers of the 1999 Fifa World Cup hosted on home soil.

Yobo has since then featured in three Fifa World Cups (2002, 2010 and 2014) as well as winning the Afcon title in 2013.

The NFF forwarded a request to Fifa to perform the jersey presentation ceremony prior to kick-off inside the Estadio Nacional, but the football governing body claimed it could not go ahead.
