KOWA party’s Sonaiya congratulates Buhari, says expectations are high

Capture

The presidential candidate of the KOWA Party, Prof. Remi Sonaiya has congratulated Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on his victory in the presidential election. However, he reminded him that the expectations of Nigerians were very high.

Sonaiya, the only female among the contestants that lost to Buhari in the March 28 election, congratulated the APC candidate on behalf of her party.

“I pray that God will grant the General the wisdom to rise up to the challenge and live up to the challenge and live up to the promises of his campaign,” she said in a message sent to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“I also wish to note that the expectations of Nigerians for a better quality of life are very high.

Speaking further in a telephone interview with NAN, Sonaiya said that the victory of Buhari, who won the presidential election after three failed attempts, showed what determination could do.

“It shows determination, he believed he had something to offer and kept at it,” she said.

Sonaiya said her participation in the election would encourage more women to come into politics to fill a vacuum that still exists.

Although she could only garner 13,076 votes, the professor said she would focus on building the KOWA Party to become stronger.

Aregbesola congratulates Nigerians over Buhari’s victory

Muhammadu-Buhari1

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday, described the victory of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari as the best thing to happen to Nigeria after the country has endured 16 years of misrule at the centre.

“I congratulate Nigerians for their steadfastness and commitment to a better Nigeria in the way they have come out right from the collection of permanent voters cards, which gave them the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities; their turn out during the election and their peaceful conducts,” he said in a statement by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.

“The victory of the APC in the general elections should, therefore be seen as the triumph of democracy in Nigeria borne out of the people’s will and aspirations rather than the showing of strength of any political party or individuals.”

He charged all other political parties to take the results and final outcome of the election with the spirit of sportsmanship, saying the people have spoken through their votes.

“So, I am not joking about it, what will I be doing here? At 70, what will I be doing here? All we have been doing to restructure the country has been lost. We have been trying to ensure balance in the polity but all that has gone. What else will I be doing here?” he told Vanguard.

I have kept my word on free and fair elections – Jonathan

GEJ-Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan has told his supporters and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rather celebrate and not mourn because he has kept his word of ensuring a free and fair election.

Jonathan who is the first incumbent to lose election in Nigeria, conceded defeat in a message to the nation. He expressed gratitude to memebers of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for their support and also Nigerians, for the opportunity given unto him to lead them.

Read statement below:

Fellow Nigerians,

I thank you all for turning out en-masse for the March 28 General Elections.

I promised the country free and fair elections. I have kept my word. I have also expanded the space for Nigerians to participate in the democratic process. That is one legacy I will like to see endure.

Although some people have expressed mixed feelings about the results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), I urge those who may feel aggrieved to follow due process based on our constitution and our electoral laws, in seeking redress.

As I have always affirmed, nobody’s ambition is worth the blood of any Nigerian. The unity, stability and progress of our dear country is more important than anything else.

I congratulate all Nigerians for successfully going through the process of the March 28th General Elections with the commendable enthusiasm and commitment that was demonstrated nationwide.

I also commend the Security Services for their role in ensuring that the elections were mostly peaceful and violence-free.

To my colleagues in the PDP, I thank you for your support. Today, the PDP should be celebrating rather than mourning. We have established a legacy of democratic freedom, transparency, economic growth and free and fair elections.

For the past 16 years, we have steered the country away from ethnic and regional politics. We created a Pan-Nigerian political party and brought home to our people the realities of economic development and social transformation.

Through patriotism and diligence, we have built the biggest and most patriotic party in Nigerian history. We must stand together as a party and look to the future with renewed optimism.

I thank all Nigerians once again for the great opportunity I was given to lead this country and assure you that I will continue to do my best at the helm of national affairs until the end of my tenure.

Obasanjo congratulates Buhari, tasks him on reconciliation and reforms

Obasanjo-and-Buhari

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo who has publicly shown his support for Major-General Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the elections, has congratulated him over his victory.

In a letter to the President-elect, Obasanjo said his success and victory after three unsuccessful attempts must be great object lessons for the former head of state and for all politicians in the country and beyond.

“For me, the totality of 2015 elections hold many lessons for our democracy and democratisation process which are both maturing,” Obasanjo said.

“On this occasion, the system has been unnecessarily overheated before and particularly during the campaigns when emphasis was more on trivialities and hate, divisive, undignifying and disrespectful statements and comments rather than on pressing issues requiring attention,” he pointed out.

However, Obasanjo said the President-elect, in victory, “will be magnanimous to start binding the wounds and bitterness occasioned by the campaign and the evil disciples.

“With so much harm already done to many national institutions including the military, which proudly nurtured you and me, you will have a lot to do on institution reform, education, healthcare, economy, security, infrastructure, power, youth employment, agribusiness, oil and gas, external affairs, cohesiveness of our nation and ridding our land of corruption.

“Your varied and wide experience will undoubtedly stand you in good stead.

“I am also sure that there are men and women of goodwill, character and virtue across the board that you can mobilise to join hands with you in the reform, repairs and re-direction that will be imperative to put Nigeria back on the fast lane of good governance, unity, cohesiveness, development and progress.

“Once again, I felicitate with you and wish you well,” Obasanjo stated.

Why Rivers State election was not cancelled – Jega

Rivers_State

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega, yesterday, insisted that elections held in Rivers State despite a petition by the All Progressives Congress (APC) asking for the cancellation of the state’s election over alleged irregularities.

Responding to an observation raised by a member of the APC at the elections collation centre in Abuja, Jega said following the petition by the opposition party, INEC had set up a committee to investigate what happened in the state.

“Sunday morning, I received a petition from APC demanding for the cancellation and rescheduling of elections,” the INEC chairman said.

“I circulated this memo to the Comm. We reviewed it and set up a 3 man Cttee to Rivers & returned this morning w their observations.

“There were a number of points as to why the Commission should cancel/reschedule elections: no elections, no result sheets, substitution of officials,” he said, citing the petition by the APC.

“We cannot establish any cancellation or substitution of results and we sent a list of collation officers to the state.

“Officials fail to show up to work for several reasons and it is up to the REC to substitute from the pool of officials they have.”

However, based on the committee’s report, “We do not believe the allegations are substantial enough to require the cancellation/rescheduling of the elections in Rivers.

“The decision of the Commission is that we will take the results of the elections in Rivers state.”

The INEC chairman, however, promised that the Commission had taken measures to make sure that such situation does not reoccurr in the future.

APC grievances about the how elections were conducted in Rivers State may not be pursued further, especially now that the candidate of the party, Muhammadu Buhari had been declared winner of the preidential election.

President Goodluck Jonthan: Nigeria’s first incumbent to lose election

GEJ-Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan has lost the 2015 presidential elections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate General Muhammadu Buhari following results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). This makes him Nigeria’s first sitting president to be voted out of office.

The elections, which took place over the weekend, was Nigeria’s most keenly contested since the country’s return to democracy in 1999. He is also the first elected president to serve a single term.

Jonathan has been president for six years; he acted for two years in place of President Umaru Musa Yar’auda who was deposed by death. His tenure had been marred with issues of corruption, the most prominent being the alleged $20 billion unremmitted revenue by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) into the country’s coffers. He also failed to act quickly to curtail the Boko Haram insurgency that plagued the North East during a greater part of his administration.

In contrast, the incoming president, General Muhammadu Buhari is known to be a disciplinarian and an anti-corruption crusader. His short-lived reign as a military head-of-state, after overthrowing the democratic government of Shehu Shagari, was smeared by issues relating to media stifling and excessive use of fear to drive socio-economic policies.

Jonathan did not just make history as the first sitting president to be voted out of office but he also made history as the first Nigerian leader to gracefully accept defeat. He was reported to have called Buhari after 35 states had been announced and it was apparent that the former head of state was coasting to victory. Nigerians have commended this as characteristic of a true leader.

Buhari Thanks Nigerians, Cautions Against ‘Wild’ Celebrations

Muhammadu BuhariThe candidate of the APC in the just-concluded elections, Muhammadu Buhari, has issued an interim message of thanks and gratitude to Nigerians for choosing him and his party over and above the Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, the incumbent President, President Jonathan Goodluck.

The party declared victory after Mr. Jonathan called Mr. Buhari at 5:15pm to make a concession and congratulate the winner.

A statement issued Tuesday evening by the Director Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Garba Shehu, said the mood of the country as well as its current state did not warrant the type of wild celebrations reportedly going on in some cities across the country.

Mr. Buhari said anybody happy with the victory of the APC in the presidential election will not be involved in the molestation of opponents or the destruction of their property.

“He or she is not with me, whoever does that”, Mr. Buhari said.

He is due to make a major acceptance speech in the coming hours.

This Is Historic Moment – Atiku Congratulates Buhari, Thanks Jonathan

Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former vice president, has officially congratulated Muhammadu Buhari on winning the presidential election.

Atiku-Buhari

The Independent National Electoral Commission will announce the final results only after providing the figures on Borno. However, based on the already available numbers the All Progressives Congress candidate will emerge winner.

Atiku’s statement, which appeared on his official website, reads:

“My hearty congratulations to His Excellency, General Muhammadu Buhari, for being elected the next president of our beloved county, Nigeria. You have led our party, the All Progressives Congress to an unprecedented victory within two years of it’s official formation, and in so doing, written the most important chapter of our democracy.

“The great Nnamdi Azikiwe once wrote that “history will continue to vindicate the just”. Your victory in the polls, with votes from across the length and breadth of our country, bears witness to the acceptance of not just our party, the APC, but also your ideology of justice, fair play and zero tolerance for corruption as the bedrock for national rebirth.

“At this historic moment, it is most important to say a hearty thank you to every Nigerian who voted for the APC. Your votes have not just elected the first opposition party into federal power, but has also set a precedent which will have positive implications for democracy across Africa.

“Dear GMB, the journey has just begun. Millions of Nigerians have put their trust in you, because they were not satisfied with the status quo. You represent the hope of a new generation of Nigerians, and you cannot afford to fail them. Our party has made a promise of change to our young people, to secure and rebuild our country, create jobs and opportunity, and improve citizens’ welfare. We will stand behind you to ensure we keep those promises, just like we did during these elections.

“Our country needs a new direction. We have voted for you, and our party won the election, but when you assume our highest office, you must become the president of not just the APC, but all of Nigeria, including the people who did not vote for you. We look up to you to heal the fractures of our country, and truly unite this country like never before.

“To President Jonathan, I want to specially thank you for conducting a historic election. Your party may have lost the elections, but you have won the admiration of the world by not interfering with the wishes of Nigerians. History will be kind to you.

“It is my sincere hope that we will all come together as one country, to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

God bless Nigeria.”

Meanwhile APC supporters all across Nigerian are taking to the streets to celebrate the victory of their candidate. Buhari took to Facebook to thanks all those who backed him and urged people to refrain from violence.

5 Quick Things You Can Do To Have A Sexier Bedroom Tonight

Romantic-Bedroom

I’m going to let you all in on a little secret.

I am generally okay with keeping most of my house looking halfway decent. With working full time, writing part time and three children, it’s not always easy, but at the very least, the parts of my house that most people see are somewhere in the vicinity of “not embarrassing.”

My bedroom is where it all tends to go downhill. It just ends up being the place that everything that doesn’t have a place finds a home. It is the opposite of the sexy sanctuary that it is supposed to be a lot of the time.

Maybe you’re someone who never struggles with this, but if you’re like me, having a bedroom that looks like a cross between a laundromat and the land of misfit toys isn’t really the ticket to putting you in the sexiest of moods. If you don’t have the time to do a complete overhaul on your bedroom right this moment, here are some quick ways that you can sexify your bedroom in just a few minutes.

Get all of the paper out of it. Mail, magazines, kids’ artwork from school. Take it out of your room. It doesn’t actually matter where you put it for now. If you have a decorative box that you can put it in somewhere, then put it there and make an appointment with yourself to go through it. Your goal for the moment is just to put it somewhere else.

Put your clothes where you can’t see them. Like a lot of women, I am good for having clothes either piled up or folded up in a chair. Put them away somewhere. Unless they’re piles of lingerie that you are about to put on immediately, your clothing pile is not hot.

Put all of the toys somewhere else Get the kids toys out of your room right now. Rolling over on a LEGO will kill the mood each and every time. Again, if you don’t have time, you don’t have to put them all exactly back where they belong. Just gather them up and put them in a place that is not your room.

Put your nicest linens on your bed You might need to wash a load of sheets for this, but make sure your linens match and put the nicest stuff in your room. I had to remind my husband about not putting our fitted sheet on our son’s bed recently. Only people with jobs in my house get a high thread count!

Light a scented candle Now that your room is free of junk and/or kid-paraphernalia, engage your senses with your favorite scent. Smell-goods will help relax you and get the mood right.

No Corps Member Was Killed In Gombe During Elections – NYSC

electionThe National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Tuesday, denied reports in the media that two Corps members, who served as ad-hoc staff in Gombe State at the just concluded March 28 Presidential and the National Assembly elections, were killed by insurgents in the state.

This was contained in a statement signed by NYSC’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Bose Aderibigbe, and made available to journalists in Abuja.

Mrs Aderibigbe was reacting to a broadcast by Channels TV that two corps members were killed in Gombe.

The statement reads; “The attention of NYSC management has been drawn to a misleading news story featured by Channels Television on the death of two corps members in Gombe state during the attack on some parts of the state.

“Management categorically wants to state that no corps members in Gombe died during the said attack by the suspected insurgents.

“The two names carried on Channels TV as Corps members who lost their lives were INEC ad-hoc staff and not corps members as reported. The NYSC however commiserates with families of those that lost their lives.

“NYSC management wants to reassure all Nigerians that we are indeed committed towards the security and safety of Corps members nationwide”.

10 Sweet Things Men Do That Are Creepy To Their Dates

article-2014823812110143861000 Are you still in the dating scene? Has a date ever done or said something he thought was sweet that just made you feel uncomfortable?

If yes, you are not alone.

Perhaps you just want to date without commitment, or maybe you’re waiting for Mr. Right. Regardless of your intentions, you take dating slowly — cautiously. However, the guy you are dating has a different agenda. He wants something serious and pushes the envelope a little too far.

Here are 10 things guys do to be sweet that end up being creepy.

1. Shows up unannounced

For an official couple, showing up without announcement is acceptable. But if your date is just getting to know you, appearing at your work or at your front door is pretty creepy. He means to give you full attention, but he needs to respect your space.

2. Shuts off his phone when he is with you

This may not seem as creepy. After all, your date doesn’t want interruptions — that’s sweet. But a man shutting off his phone can seem suspicious, and a woman may wonder if he is trying to avoid contact with someone else.

3. Keeps track of your every move

Every chance he gets, he is asking where you are and who are you with. He wants full details of your day. Again, you are just dating. You are not seeing each other exclusively, and he does not have the liberty to ask those questions. He is overstepping his boundaries.

4. Bombards you

You feel he is overdoing the phone calls and texts messages. Of course, you love attention, but when the attention becomes too much to handle, you get turned off.

5. Orders for you

You step away to freshen up and, before you know it, your date has already ordered your meal without knowing your tastes — or your allergies.

6. Immediately talks about family

While a woman who wants a family appreciates a man who shares similar feelings, it is uncomfortable when your date does not take the time to learn whether or not having a family interests you right now.

7. Takes you to the same old places

It is sweet to go to the same restaurant you visited on your first date — when it is an occasion such as an anniversary. It is not sweet to visit the same spot over and over again while you are dating.

8. Takes you shopping

Every girl loves it when a man takes her shopping, but not when the man has ulterior motives. He is vocal about your fashion sense. He wants you to wear something of his liking on the next date. It might be safe to say there will be no next date.

9. Has plans for your future

Your handsome date discusses his strict future plans with you, including how he foresees life with his future wife. He expects his wife to be a stay-at-home mom, but you want to pursue your career and think about a family later. Just when you thought your date could have been the one, his plans crush your dreams.

10. Brings his children on the date

There is nothing wrong with a man who cares about and loves his children, but it is strange bringing children on a new date — especially without warning. Maybe the babysitter had to cancel, but a quick phone call to let you know the kids are coming along is in order.

Daters should get to know one another without pressure. If the guy you are dating is overwhelming you or doing things that put you on edge, talk to him about it. If he persists in behaving the same way, don’t feel obligated to continue dating him. Your happiness and sanity come first.

22 Things You Need To Start Doing In Order To Improve The Rest Of Your Life

images

1. Exercise. And if you can, exercise in the morning. This helps in so many ways. It will help you sleep better at night and be more alert during the day. It will help wake you up in the morning by getting your blood flowing. It will help to sharpen and focus your mind. It will help relieve stress. There are just so many benefits.

2. Don’t say “I’ll do it tomorrow” or “I don’t have time.” Tomorrow tends to be the imaginary land that never arrives, and 95-99% of the time when people say “I’ll do it tomorrow” or “I don’t have time” it really means “I’d rather just be lazy.”

3. Don’t make excuses. Just do it. If there is something that you want to do, whether it is just something that you think would be fun, a new experience, or something to better yourself then do it. This sort of goes with point #2. If you’re making excuses then all that means is your really don’t want it that badly.

4. Read books. Get off the internet. Stop reading pointless 3 paragraph articles and read something substantial. It will help expand your vocabulary, it will open your mind, it will inspire real thinking and creativity, and more.

5. Make sure you understand your credit score.

6. Save money. Be aggressive about it. In the next 5-10 years, you’ll probably be extremely happy that you did so.

7. Don’t hold grudges. Do not harbor hate. It takes a lot of energy to be mad at people so don’t bother. Just let things go. And if someone continues to inspire these bad feelings in you, then let them go. It’s that simple.

8. Laugh and smile. Always. Having a bad day? First, Smile. A big one. Ear to ear. Force it. Smiling doesn’t just happen when you are happy, but it always happens to make you happier. It’s scientifically proven. Then go to YouTube (I know earlier I said get off the internet, but laughter is a necessity.), look up a funny video or your favorite comedian and just laugh. Just let go. It’ll help.

9. Stop and smell the roses. It’s good to want to better yourself, but you also need to know when to take time for yourself and relax. Let your batteries recharge.

10. Be thankful and grateful. Sometimes it can be hard in the moment to realize that you actually have it pretty good, but every now and then just stop and think about everything that you have in your life. There is always someone who has it worse so you should be happy that you have what you have. It’s also good to want to be better and to not just accept things for what they are, to challenge the status quo, but at the same time if you are always surging forward and you never stop to appreciate what and who is around you then one day when you finally do stop, you may realize there’s nothing left.

11. Be charitable. Not just with your money or your time, but with who you are. Being charitable isn’t just about giving when it makes sense, it’s about being the type of person who will go out of their way to help the old woman cross a slippery, snow covered street. It’s about tipping the waitress even when she was bitchy because maybe she’s just having a really bad day. It’s about smiling at that person across from you on the bus who looks upset, maybe even ask them if they need to talk. It’s about giving that kid who won’t stop asking for a job a chance even though their resume doesn’t look that great.

12. Be selfish. Sometimes. This may sound contradictory, but hear me out. Sometimes you just need to ignore everyone else, and step away from the world for you. Go on that ski trip. Get yourself those shoes. That might sound vain, but you know what, if you don’t have a healthy mind and a healthy body then how will you help others to do so?

13. Keep your phone in your pocket when with friends and family. Enjoy your time with them. You can always use technology, you won’t always have time with your loved ones.

14. Don’t be shy. Talk to people. Don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with strangers. What’s the worst that will happen? They’ll ignore you? Be rude? So what? You don’t ever have to talk to them again. Not only will this teach you not to be afraid of rejection, but it will teach you how to network, be personable, read people, and maybe meet some really great people.

15. Listen. When someone is talking to you, LISTEN. Don’t just think about what you are going to say, but really listen to what they are saying. Then when they are done you can take a second to think about what you want to say.

16. Be yourself, but don’t be an A-Hole. Never be afraid to be who you are. Don’t worry about other people’s BS opinion of you. Enjoy life and yourself. If people don’t like you for who you are then you don’t need them in your life. Simple as that. At the same time, if everyone you meet seems to think you’re an A-Hole, maybe you should take a step back and re-evaluate yourself.

17. Travel. If you can, travel. It’s a great thing to do. It can open you up to so many things that you will never experience in your own little corner of the world. Whether that be lifestyles and culture you could never have imagined, seeing nature in a new light, or giving you the shocking realization that there is something horribly wrong with the balance of power and wealth in this world. Traveling can lead to some great introspection and thought provoking experiences.

18. Be open minded. You don’t know it all. You never will. You also couldn’t possibly understand everything so be aware of that.

19. Love like a puppy. Don’t be afraid to let others in. Love unconditionally. If your heart gets broken, it will heal, and you will learn. But do not let it close you. At the same time, make sure that just because you love so openly that you don’t let others walk all over you. You can leave someone behind who treats you wrong, but still have a strong love for them. A lot of us have experienced that.

20. Ask why and be curious. Why is one of the single most powerful words we have as humans. It can open so many doors and lead to so much knowledge. Next time someone tells you something, instead of just accepting it, ask why. Dig deeper. Learn.

21. Follow your passions and your dreams. Do what you love and what you enjoy. Don’t settle. Not for a job. Not for a spouse. Not for anything. If you believe that you are capable of more, then go for it, but don’t forget to keep at least 1 toe on the ground so that you don’t lose everything great that you may already have.

22. Be a child. This is a culmination of many of the previous pieces of advice. Being a child means to love like a puppy. You open your arms with a blissful ignorance. You travel wherever you go, looking at things with a curiosity unmatched by any adult. You see things in a creative light and let your imagination run wild. When you’re in a taxi, you’re not just on your way to work avoiding traffic, you’re avoiding the bad guys and on a mission to save the world. You don’t judge. You don’t assume. You just accept. You listen and you learn, so intensely that others may assume you had no idea they were talking to you, but one day you’ll repeat what they said and surprise them. You ask why because you want to truly understand. You are yourself because you haven’t yet learned how to be anything but yourself, but at the same time your imagination will allow you to be and do anything you can dream. As a child, you are often selfish, but at the same time often so surprisingly giving because you don’t like to see others sad. You laugh and smile often because there’s not much else that feels better than that. You save your money, your pennies and your quarters go into the piggy jar because one day, you know you’ll buy something big. Each day is new and exciting. You don’t make excuses for not doing something because you don’t have any, when there is something you want to do, something you dream of, you go for it because you haven’t been told you can’t. You don’t understand that others might believe it’s impossible. You just be the best version of yourself because that is how life should be.

Reasons Some People Always Feel Cold While Others Are Always Hot

Cold We’re here to finally put the temperature debate that’s sweeping the nation (or just my office) to bed and figure out why some of us just don’t get to be comfy like the others.

Seriously, it’s a cool 70-something degrees inside the Elite Daily headquarters, and I’m typing to you from underneath four layers of jackets and a Snuggie. Life isn’t fair.

Hot flashes and the chills could be indicators of poor health

Part of the reason some of us may always feel cold while others remain uncomfortably hot could actually be our health.

HealthBlurbs reports some of these issues are ones that often go unnoticed, such as anemia, malnutrition, infection, weight issues (being both underweight and overweight poses various symptoms) and even silent thyroiditis.

What’s one way we can fix this? Regular health checkups and open dialog with your doctors.

When it comes to your health, maintaining open communication with a professional is crucial in discovering and treating problems like these before they become even more serious issues — or worse, leave you constantly feeling uncomfortably hot or cold.

If you’re always hot or cold, you could be way too stressed

Women’s Health reports that stressful situations such as fighting, heavy workloads and busy schedules could be the cause for our discomfort in normal temperatures.

Michael Lynch, a clinical neuropsychologist, says there is a lot going on inside the body that causes the weather-related effects we feel from stress.

He tells the magazine,

If you’re stressed, your autonomic nervous system kicks in, causing blood to move toward your body’s core organs. This is your body’s fight or flight response.

So, if you’re starting to feel extremely hot in the office while everyone else appears to be drowning under blankets made of jackets, it may be because of the fight that’s brewing between you and your friends or family.

Try leaving the unnecessary stress at home, and move forward with your day on a positive note in order to remain calm, cool and comfy.

Your happiness may be affecting your climate control

Apparently, it’s not just health and other physical factors that are affecting those of us who consistently feel weather extremes.

Even if the temp in the room or outside is normal, many of us may feel somewhat off based on our emotional state. Reports show that when people feel isolated, alone or depressed, they are more likely to feel the shivers.

The opposite is true for the times we feel connected and more social.

That warm, fuzzy feeling that happens when you’re surrounded by people you love spending time with? It really is a physical feeling that makes us more receptive to heat and leaves us feeling warmer and happier than if we were surrounded by strangers.

So when our hearts are cold, we are too — despite whatever the actual temperature may be.

Election Results: Buhari Group Calls for Fani-Kayode’s Arrest

Femi Fani-KayodeThe Buhari Support Organisations has called for the arrest of Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, for announcing unofficial results for the recently concluded presidential election.

The Director, Media and Information of the BSO, Dr. Chidia Maduekwe, made the call on Monday in Abuja at a press conference.

According to Maduekwe, the time for security agencies to show their neutrality is now by arresting Fani-Kayode because the only authority to announce election results is the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The organisation claimed that Fani-Kayode had breached relevant sections of the Electoral Act by announcing on Sunday that the PDP was leading in the presidential election in 23 states of the federation.

“We ask the security agencies to immediately arrest Fani-Kayode for breaching relevant sections of the Electoral Act which forbids any organ outside INEC from officially declaring election results.

“His arrest for further questioning will be a clear indication that the security agencies are truly unbiased participants in this electoral process.

“His declaration is also a breach of both the first and second Abuja Peace Accord signed by the presidential candidates”, Maduekwe said.

While calling on the international community and observers to note the steps being taken by the ruling party to cause severe breach of peace and call them to order, the BSO urged All Progressives Congress supporters to maintain the peace as they await the official announcement of authentic INEC results for the Saturday elections.

“We ask Nigerians to join us in saying `No’ to this recent manifestation of habitual impunity.

“We appeal to all our numerous supporters to sustain their calmness in the face of current provocation and abuse of our electoral processes”, he said.

Maduekwe said that APC would reject “in its entirety, the use of security to compromise an election process that has been commended as having high quotient of integrity”.

He also urged the INEC to adhere strictly to guidelines for elections which protected candidates through active participation of party agents.

“We request INEC to adhere to the guideline which makes it mandatory for polling unit party agents to sign result sheet forming the basis for collation of result at collation centres”.

No Offers for Hummels Yet, Says Dortmund Chief

Borussia Dortmund have not received offers for Mats Hummels, according to the club’s chief executive.

Hans-Joachim Watzke has played down rumours linking the Germany international with a move away from the Westfalendstadion in the summer in the wake of interests from top European clubs, including Manchester United.

“Mats has a contract with us until June 2017 and we have not received any offers for him yet, so we are relaxed,” Watzke is quoted as saying on German news tabloid Bild.

United have keenly monitored Hummels for much of the season, while the 2011 and 2012 Bundesliga winners have struggled in the German top flight.

The 26-year-old World Cup winner is under contract at the Signa Iduna Park until the end of 2016/17 campaign.

“He had a conversation with sporting director Michael Zorc two weeks ago,” Watzke continued. “Mats informed us that he is thinking about his future and there is nothing wrong with that.”

Hummels has scored once in 17 league matches so far this season and boasts a total of 21 goals in 240 appearances since joining Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2007.

Woman Pour Boiling Water On Husband In His Sleep For Having 5 Secret Wives

BoilingWater

A woman has been arrested, charged and convicted of assault after allegedly pouring hot water on her husband for marrying five women behind her back. Read more from Radar:

Now, a court in Lugbe, sentenced 45-year-old Owolati Laide to three months in jail for pouring hot water over her husband while he was asleep.

Laide of Abuja, was convicted of one count of causing injury after provocation and was given an option to pay N5,000 fine instead of serving her jail sentence. The judge said that he was lenient because the defendant needs to take care of her six-month-old child. The judge also ordered the victim to desist from committing additional crimes.

The husband, Owolati Tajudeem, testified that Laide was angry after his second wife, who is pregnant, came to her home without consent. The man claimed that his wife knew that he is married to five other women. According to the police investigation, during the night, Laide boiled a pot of water and poured it over her sleeping husband. The husband awoke from the burns and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated and released.

Outcome of Ekiti Polls Confirms Fayose As A ‘Super Political’ Champion, Says Aide

Ayo FayoseGovernor Ayodele Fayose has said the outcome of Saturday’s presidential and national assembly election has signaled the end of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State.

The Peoples Democratic Party won all the three senatorial districts and the six House of Representatives seats in the state. Its presidential candidate, Goodluck Jonathan, also won majority of the votes cast in the state.

Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Information, Youth and Sports, Mr. Lanre Ogunsuyi, in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Monday, said the election results proved that his victory in the June 21 governorship election was not rigged as claimed by the APC.

“It is now confirmed to whoever is still doubting whether Fayose is indeed a super political champion that the man is more than that, he is also a rare breed.

“In the same token, the outcome of Saturday’s National Assembly election, which made the PDP candidates to defeat all the candidates of APC in both the Senate and House of Representatives, including all the incumbents, shows that all negative claims about June 21, 2014 governorship poll, existed only in the imagination of those that faulted the outcome”, he said.

The aide further boasted that the PDP would repeat the same feat on April 11 in the State House of Assembly election.

“We don’t want a type of State Assembly that will be antagonistic of the governor and cause distractions for him.

“We already have problems with the current Assembly, and we do not want a repeat of that. We also do not want a 13-13 scenario as we were all living witnesses to its attendant negative effects in the past”, he added.

Thanking the people for their support to Fayose, Ogunsuyi assured that the governor would justify the confidence reposed in him by bringing unprecedented dividends of democracy to the citizens.

With Outcome of Presidential Elections, LP, AP, SDP, PDP Are Dead – Oyo APC

APC-Logo1The Oyo State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, on Monday taunted the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Seyi Makinde, and other opposition governorship candidates in the state, asking them to re-assess their political future and join the ruling party in the state.

In a statement on Monday by its chairman, Akin Oke, the Oyo APC described the Peoples Democratic Party, Accord Party and the Labour Party in the state as sinking ships, advising their governorship candidates and supporters to jump ship.

“We want to counsel the standard bearer of the SDP in the April 11 governorship election, Makinde, to reflect on his political future, which we strongly believe will better be enhanced if he teams up with the APC now, along with his followers”, the party said.

While calling on the PDP’s Teslim Folarin, AP’s Rashidi Ladoja and LP’s Adebayo Alao-Akala, who are all governorship candidates of their respective parties in the April 11 election, APC said its victory in the state during the just concluded presidential election was an indication of its popularity among the people and the dwindling relevance of other parties in the state.

The party added that, “With the outcome of the election, Ladoja and his party should by now resign to fate that the people of Oyo State have finally rejected them. This informs our advice to the innocent followers, who all along have been deceived into believing that he (Ladoja) was a force to be reckoned with.

“Besides, the outcome of the elections has shown that the people of the state will never again fall for the bait of propaganda, deceit, falsehood, character assassination and reactionary politics for which the leading opposition parties’ candidates are known. Now that the people of Oyo State have again shown their preference for the APC, we strongly advise the followers of Folarin, Ladoja and Alao-Akala to review their stance and jump out of the turbulent ship in order not to sink with them”.

Man beats wife to a pulp over election outcome

GEJ-Buhari

A commercial motorcyclist, Raphael Abiodun, on Monday, beat his wife, Bose, to a pulp over disagreement on the outcome of Saturday Presidential and National Assembly (NASS) elections, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

The development was said to have angered Abiodun, who immediately pounced on Bose and beat his wife to a pulp. It took the intervention of neighbours and some commercial motorcyclists in the area to save the situation from degenerating further, NAN reports.

The FA “Disappointed” No Great Britain Teams at Rio 2016

The Football Association (FA) says it is “disappointed” for deciding to not enter Great Britain team for the Men’s and Women’s Football Tournaments of the 2016 Olympic Games as a result of oppositions from other home nations.

The FA’s plan to enter teams for the Rio de Janeiro games was rejected by Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

“We are disappointed not to be able to go ahead, given the fantastic opportunity it would have afforded the players and the broader exposure it would have brought to the game in our countries,” an FA spokesman confirmed on Tuesday.

Great Britain Women's

It was made clear that all four home nations would have to agree before the plan could be ratified. In light of that, the FA’s director of football services Jonathan Hall contacted the other British associations on Monday to inform them it had decided to drop the plan.

FIFA vice-president Jim Boyce said last week: ”I was given an absolute categorical reassurance from FIFA that unless full agreement could be reached between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, there would be no GB team participating at next year’s Olympics.”

PDP Moves To Frustrate Presidential Results Announcement, Accuses Jega Of Bias

Attahiru JegaThe national collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Abuja was some few minutes ago thrown into commotion as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, agent, Elder Godsdey Orubebe, refused to allow the continuation of announcement of election results.

Upon resumption on Tuesday morning to continue announcing the election results, Mr. Orubebe sought and got the permission of the INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, to make an observation.

Immediately he was handed the microphone, the former Niger Delta Minister held up a piece of paper, which he said was printed from the opposition party, All Progressives Congress’ website, purportedly showing the party’s presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari as winner of the election even though all the results have not yet been announced.

Accusing Jega of bias and tribalism, the PDP agent passed a vote of no confidence on the INEC chairman.

“You are very very selective, partial; we’ve lost confidence in what you are doing. We don’t believ in you anymore”, he said, adding “You are tribalistic! You are partial! You are selective! We’ll not allow it! This [the result] is already printed by Jega and APC!”

Apparently vexed by the INEC chairman’s decision to set up a probe committee on the election in Rivers State, Mr. Orubebe said Jega refused to look into similar complaints by the ruling party on some states, especially in the North, which the PDP considered to have been massively rigged.

“Let Jega set up a committee, to go to Kano; to go to Katsina, to go to Jigawa, to go to Kaduna. They are playing a script! We won’t allow it”, Orubebe thundered.

He was unyielding as Mr. Jega and other INEC officials appealed to him to allow the collation to go on.

He said the collation would not go on except Mr. Jega leaves the venue for his office to “address PDP complaints”.

In his response, Jega denied the accusation of bias leveled against him by the PDP, stressing that the party did not follow the right channel of communication in submitting its petition.

He argued that the petition was given to his Personal Assistant instead of the Secretary to the Commission.

This much Jega said he told the PDP agent at the collation centre, Dr. Bello Fadile, who said “okay”.

He also claimed ignorance of the election result allegedly paraded by the APC.

The collation of results has since resumed.

Orubebe accuses Jega of partiality on live TV

INECmm

The former minister of Niger Delta, Godday Orubebe today made the grievances of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) known as the collation of votes for the presidential election resumed today in Abuja. He accused the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commisssion (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega of partiality.

According to Orubebe, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in possession of an election result he believed had been given to the opposition party by the INEC chairman.

He noted that while Jega set up a committe to investigate the protest letter of APC on Rivers election, he rejected the letter of PDP on Kano, Jigawa, Katsina and Kadunna.

“Jega threw our letter at us, saying that he will not investigate.”

The INEC chairman denied the allegation and remained calm despite the scene created by the former minister. His response to Orubebe has generated a discussion on social media with his response now termed as the quote of the day.

“Mr Orubebe, you are a former minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, so you should be careful about the things you say and certainly you should be careful about your public conduct,” Jega told the former minister.

Presidential Poll: There won’t be post-election violence, but the winner has been decided, Cleric claims

GEJ-Buhari

A Warri, Delta State-based cleric, Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, Monday, admonished Nigerians not to panic, ahead of the announcement of the results of the keenly contested presidential elections, as there will not be any violence thereafter.

According to the General Overseer of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministries, who had earlier prophesied about the peaceful conduct of the elections advised Nigerians to discard any fears they have.

However, he told journalists that the election would have been bloody, if not for God’s intervention.

The preacher claimed that God had revealed the winner of the presidential election to him, as the outcome of the Saturday presidential election had been decided in the spiritual realm long ago.

Gemade Defeats Gov. Suswam In Benue Senatorial Contest

Gemade-SuswamGovernor of Benue State, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, has lost his bid to represent Benue Zone ‘A’ in the Red Chamber of the National Assembly as he was floored by incumbent Senator, Chief Barnabas Gemade.

Gemade, an All Progressives Congress member, scored 140,715 votes to beat Suswam.

Suswam, who was the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, scored 118,608 votes to lose in his ambition to occupy the senate seat.

Interestingly, Gemade defected to APC some few weeks before the commencement of the general elections after he failed in his bid to retain his PDP ticket, which was handed to Gov. Suswam.

The announcement of Gemade as validly elected Monday morning by the Returning Officer for the zone, Prof. Mohammed Adah, put to rest the conflicting accounts since Saturday over which of the two politicians won the election.

Gemade rejoins Senate President, David Mark, and another former governor of the state and Senate Minority Leader, George Akume, as the winners for Benue Zone ‘B’ and Benue Zone ‘C’ respectively.

Elections: INEC Ad-hoc Staff Were Compromised, Insincere – Anglican Church

INECOne of the accredited observers for the 2015 general elections, the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, said on Monday that some presiding officers and ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, were compromised during the conduct of Saturday’s presidential and national assembly election.

The church also described as “unimpressive”, voters’ turnout and expressed concern that the number of permanent voter cards issued to voters was not commensurate with the number of votes cast.

Speaking with journalists at the Independent National Electoral Commission office in Lagos State, the Director of Civil and Political Affairs, Anglican Diocese of Lagos Mainland, Ven. Folarin Shobo, said many voters are still yet to trust the electoral system due to fears that their votes would not count.

The clergyman, who also observed the conduct of the elections, said the poor turnout was unexpected of Lagos residents.

He said, “Many people have not been able to collect their PVCs and people are lacklustre to respond.

“There is apathy on the part of Nigerians to voting. One of the factors is that they still do not trust the system. Many voters still believe that their votes will not count. ‘Why do I need to waste my time?’ they say.

“Though people may say the turnout was large, it was not commensurate with the permanent voter cards on the streets”.

Shobo added, “As the Director of the Civil and Political Affairs, Diocese of Lagos Mainland, I visited 52 churches to conduct voter education.

“The response was not commensurate with what we expected. What the voters have done is to express their sentiments – emotional, poverty, religious and tribal. So, voting was not done based on the conviction and assessment of contestants.

“Some of the ad hoc staff are not faithful and sincere. They were compromising, forgetting that they are also Nigerians and that once these general elections are over, their citizenship reverts and the immunity they enjoy expires.

“So, they are supposed to assist INEC as citizens that have been so privileged to be among those who would use their God-given intellects to put the system right”.

The Anglican Communion further noted that INEC had spent a lot of money to train ad-hoc staff and therefore questioned the reluctance of the staff to attend the training.

“How did INEC come about the 700,000 ad hoc staff? When they were called for training, how many of them responded?” Shobo asked

He, however, urged the electoral body to begin preparations for the 2019 general elections on April 13, 2015, so as to make things better.

The Church praised INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, for introducing innovations aimed at putting the nation’s electoral system on a progressive path and called on stakeholders to support the initiatives.

We’ll Resist Firmly Any Attempt To Rig Us – PDP Campaign

Fani KayodeThe Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO, on Monday vowed to resist with everything at its disposal, rigging of the recently concluded presidential election.

Its Presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, is currently getting a run for his money from the All Progressives Congress flag bearer, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) for the coveted position.

The Director of Media and Publicity of the PDPPCO, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, stated this at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday.

According to the PDP campaign spokesman, based on the information made available to the party, President Jonathan was having a comfortable lead in the race.

He said, “We wish to take this opportunity to make it clear to the Nigerian public that according to the figures made available to us, we are ahead in the presidential elections by at least two to three million votes.

“We have our own Situation Room and we have collated all our figures from the various polling booths, wards, local government areas and states in the Federation.

“Despite the propaganda of the opposition, we are confident of victory. They and all other stakeholders can be rest assured that we will accept nothing less than the announcement of an election result that is truthful and that reflects the true will of the Nigerian people”.

He, however, warned that “Any attempt to manipulate figures or to rig us out from any quarter, will be firmly resisted”.
