6 Killed In Kano Poly Bomb Blast

Six people have been killed in the latest suicide blast in Kano city killed six people on Wednesday and was carried out by a woman, the fourth time a female bomber has attacked the city in a week, reports AFP, quoting Mike Omeri, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA).


“At about 2.30 pm (1330 GMT), another female suicide bomber exploded an improvised explosive device at the Kano State polytechnic… Six persons were killed,” government spokesman Mike Omeri said in a statement.


Kano state Police Commissioner Adenrele Shinaba confirmed the blast, noting that a young female dress in dark hijab rammed into scores of graduating students who were checking their NYSC posting list and detonated a bomb, killing herself and two others. 10 persons were also said to have been injured.


Kano State Police Public Relations Officer, Magaji Majiya also confirmed the bomb blast, saying it took place at the Central Administration building of the polytechnic.


Witnesses told BBC that they saw bodies lying at the blast site.
