The #BringBackOurGirls Group will today march through the streets of Abuja as part of its advocacy for the safe return of the 219 Chibok schoolgirls abducted by the Boko Haram sect on the night of April 14, 2014.
The group, at its 124th sit-out session yesterday in Abuja, stated that the street protest would involve public engagement, including the distribution of fliers and pamphlets.
It said that it would continue to ignore any distraction and remain focussed on its goal, which is the safe return of the Chibok girls to their families.
“The advocacy for the Chibok girls is not ebbing. When we write about it, when we talk about it, when we participate in the sit-out and protest, we are lending our voices to the Chibok girls. We will not stop giving out our message”, the group said.
The BBOG group further stated that activities to mark Day 140 of the girls’ captivity would also involve advocacy visits to media houses in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan, to continue to drive home the issue of the abducted girls and why government should work towards bringing them back home.
