The Unknown Vice That Ruins Relationships

Sufficient stories have been narrated, circulated and seldom twisted of individuals who got possessed with demonic and familiar spirits.

Capture

Why some wholly swallowed it hook, line, and sinker, others considered it nothing more than a ficticious tale. But there’s one whose authenticity can’t be disputed: those who are possessed with jealousy.

Truth be told, there’s nothing more irritating than having an overly jealous partner, is there? Now, let’s look some of the attributes of a jealous partner, shall we?

INSECURITY AND IMMATURITY

Fear of being dumped could actually transform someone to be excessively jealous. Dating a partner whose beauty or physique seems you won a lottery and granted a divine favour can actually lead one to be really jealous of anyone that threatens to occupy our supposed position of privilege. Immaturity, likewise, could make one really jealous.

DEMONSTRATION OF LOVE

”I think it’s just stupidly extreme to be excessively jealous in a relationship. It’s not a good habit nor is it a demonstration of love by a jealous lover.” So says Mary, 29, an accountant, when asked if excessive jealousy is good or bad for a relationship. Dapo,

26, a corper, however disagreed with her, ”I don’t see anything wrong in people being excessively jealous of their partner. If anything, it’s a clear indication that they truly love them.” Trust me, folks, it’s a welcome headache when you have someone who jealously loves you, but it becomes a crushing headache when it becomes excessively done.

BEING POSSESSIVE AND OVERPROTECTIVE

There is a higher chance of having stroke, high blood pressure and lassa fever when you explore the phone, all the social media profiles of your partner than when you eat the wrong types of food. A possessive and overprotective partner hardly gives you any room to breathe, questions you like you were involved in a murder case, monitors you like a CCTV camera, might also misbehave like a psychiatric patient when (s)he sees the opposite s*x around you and what nots.

OBSESSION

I couldn’t agree more with Collins, 32, an architect, when he said, ‘An extremely jealous person will in most cases be an obsessed partner. No doubt a jealous partner will always show signs of obsession.”

Truth be told, extreme jealousy could be a lot damaging to a relationship, couldn’t it? Acting irrationally is one; like picking unnecessary fights like you were high on crack. It also makes you repulsive to your partner. And just like Sandra, 27, a caterer c*m fashion designer says, ‘Having an extremely jealous partner is a no no for me. I can’t stand them like seriously. I’d rather be single than have a crazy jealous lover. And it’s obvious men are notorious for being extremely jealous. ”

Finally, perhaps the most damaging effect of extreme jealousy is not just the breakup that terminates the relationship but the emotional scars- or in some unfortunate cases, the physical scars that looked like one just completed a circumcision process- that is left that makes the pain unbearably everlasting.
