South Africa-Nigeria Friendly Now Starts 2:30 Nigerian Time

The international friendly match between Nigeria and South Africa in Nelspruit on Sunday will now start at 3:30 pm local time (2:30pm Nigerian time), organizers have confirmed.

The match is part of the Super Eagles’ double lineup for the Fifa-free week. Nigeria, under the tutelage of caretaker coach Daniel Amokachi, lost to Uganda last Wednesday, but has expressed a strong desire to impress at the Mbombela stadium, venue of the match.

“We are here for serious business,” leader of delegation, Felix Anyansi-Agwu, said. “No match between Nigeria and South Africa is a friendly. They always put al their effort into it, and that is why we also have to do the same.

“The defeat to Uganda in Uyo was quite painful, and the players know the only way Nigerians can forgive them for that mishap is to defeat the Bafana Bafana.”

Nigeria dominate their head-to-head record with the Bafana Bafana with seven wins, three draws and just one defeat in the Nelson Mandela Challenge Cup in Johannesburg in November 2004.
