Fashola Opens Yaya-Abatan Road, Asks Lagosians Not To Vote For PDP

The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola, urged the residents to desist from voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 elections, stated that the ruling party had failed to deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians, did nothing tangible for the people in the state.

The governor made these comments while commissioning a 2.9 kilometre Yaya-Abatan Road in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government area and seven connecting inner-city roads on the Democracy Day, May 29, 2014, Thursday.

Fashola emphasised that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party was not bothered about security issues in Nigeria, preferred to focus on generating revenue for themselves. The All Progressives Congress (APC), on the opposite, was keeping its promises in delivering both development and democracy for the people.

“They (PDP) do not remember Lagos residents. But they are coming back to seek your votes. Will you give him? Please, do not give them your votes.”

It would be added that Fashola marked his seventh year in the office on the same day.

Commemorating the Democracy Day with completing the significant projects became a good tradition of his administration. Opening of the Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge in 2013 had a great impact on the residents.

In 2012, the Lagos Traffic Radio was inaugurated, while the Democracy Day in 2011 was remembered by opening about 25 bus franchise holders, which have eased the transportation.

Not less than 209 road projects are in process across the state
