Golden Eaglets Complete Double Wins Over Egypt

Nigeria’s under-17 men’s football team, the Golden Eaglets, completed a double against Egypt at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna, on Friday.

The coach Emmanuel Amuneke-led side saw off the Young Pharaohs 3-1, to seal a 6-3 aggregate win, following Wednesday’s victory at the same venue.

Ebere Osinachi scored a first-half brace before Victor Osimhen added a third in second-half regulation time. Hosam Adel scored Egypt’s only goal via penalty, after Lukman Halilu mistakenly handled the ball in the penalty area.

Eaglets head coach says there are rooms for more changes ahead of their CAN qualifier in July, after admitting he was not too satisfied with the boys’ performance.

“Yes, we won but I’m not too impressed,” Amuneke said. “But the most important thing is that we have been able to see the players against a very good Egyptian team.

“We would continue to work hard and we still have more players that we would give opportunity to in the days ahead.”
