Government’s Inability To Address Insecurity In Nigeria Unacceptable – Kwankwaso

Kano State Governor Musa Rabiu Kwankwaso has described as unacceptable the deteriorating security situation of the country and the federal government’s seeming inability to end it.

According to him, insecurity in the country has made more than four million Nigerians flee to Niger, Cameroon and Chad Republic.

“The situation is so bad that apart from those displaced by the insurgents, many other Nigerians have been hospitalised while others have gone into hiding just to save their lives, while the system continues to give assurance of victory,” Kwankwaso lamented while speaking to journalists in Kano on Sunday.

The governor noted that so many Nigerians have been displaced in towns and cities that have suffered attacks by Boko Haram insurgents. “So many Nigerians have also been displaced in Chibok, Gwoza and Bama as well as other places in the country. “This is not a good thing for Nigeria and we need to rise up and find a lasting solution to the problem, which is not beyond us,” he said.

“A situation whereby Nigeria’s leadership is encouraging division is not good for the unity of Nigeria. We should stop abusing the very people we are supposed to protect and give them a sense of hope and dignity,” Kwankwaso noted.

The Kano governor, who intends to run for presidency in 2015 also said he was the right man for Nigeria in the forthcoming presidential election as his vast experience needed to be able to address the country’s socio-economic challenges.

Kwankwaso said he had for years studied Nigeria’s problem problems and years of experience have taught him how to tackle the issues being faced by the country. He added that his rich background, which spans across several fields including engineering and government makes him one of the best choices for the country.

Kwankwaso said he had seen the nation from various angles to be able to solve its problems and advance the interest of Nigerians at all levels.

Although he has not formally declared his intention, Kwankwaso has been tipped by many as one of the few candidates from the north who can win in 2015.

The governor said he was still consulting with other stakeholders across the country on his next political move, and would formally declare to contest for next year’s presidential election at the appropriate time.
