The ex-Newcastle and Birmingham City forward leveled for Sounders and then gave the Major League Soccer (MLS) leaders the lead early in the second-half.
He has now scored 15 goals so far in the 2014 MLS season; his highest goal tally in a single season at a single club.
He also provided an assist for Clint Dempsey, whose strike gave the hosts a 3-2 lead. Lamar Neagle added Sounders FC’s fourth.
Chivas’ scorers were Erick Torres and a Jalil Anibaba own goal.
