The President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos, Mr Fabian Onwugholu, on Monday, said that the Igbo nation has fared better under the Goodluck Jonathan administration than any other previous one.
Onwugholu spoke at the 2014 Igbo Day Cultural Celebration, which held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
According to him, this year’s celebration was unique in view of the fact that President Jonathan has addressed some imbalances, marginalisation and discrimination which Igbos suffered.
“We are aware of the significant changes in the lives of Igbos, most especially in the South-East Zone.
“He has done much in the deployment of Federal Government’s investments and infrastructure.
“He has also appointed our sons and daughters to key strategic positions in the military, paramilitary and other positions which eluded us after the civil war.
“Mr President has indeed touched the lives of Igbo people through his transformation agenda.
“There has been indeed an equitable distribution of Federal Government’s investment in the six geo-political zones”, he said.
Onwugholu appealed to Ndigbo not to be disenchanted as a result of some issues which had yet to favour them.
A Political Economist and founder of the Lagos Business School, Prof. Pat Utomi, expressed satisfaction with the achievements made by the Igbos through the Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
“We need to come together and sort out the affairs that affect us; only through this we can be that strong nation”, he said.
