Newcastle United have allowed their manager Alan Pardew to speak to Crystal Palace as regards the vacant managerial position at Selhurst Park.
Newcastle have confirmed that Palace “have offered compensation” for Pardew to discuss terms with the latter club, where he spent four years as a midfielder, on a possible coaching contract as Neil Warnock’s successor.
Palace sacked Warnock on Saturday just four months into his second spell in charge of the South London club. They have won only three league matches this season and are 18th in the 20-team Premier League table.

A Newcastle statement on Monday said: “As a result of this development today (Monday), Alan will not be at training on Tuesday. Training will be the responsibility of assistant manager John Carver.”
Pardew have been in charge of the Tyneside club since December 2010 and is under contract until 2010. He guided Newcastle to a fifth-place finish in the league in 2012. Newcastle are currently ninth in the table ahead of their home clash with Burnley on new Year’s Day.
Supporters of the St. James’ Park club, had earlier this season called for the dismissal of the 53-year-old, currently the fourth longest-serving manager in the Premier League, behind Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger, Exeter City’s Paul Tisdale and Karl Robinson of MY Dons.
