2015: Kano Deputy Gov. Denies Report Linking Him With Return To PDP

Abdullahi Umar GandujeKano State Deputy Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has declared that he will not defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to seek its governorship ticket, insisting that he is loyal to Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and will not desert him.

The deputy governor, who made this known through his spokesperson, Bala Salihu Dawakin Kudu, was reacting to speculations that he might defect to the PDP if Kwankwaso refuses to support his ambition to become the next governor of the state in 2015.

There were reports that Ganduje had already set up campaign machineries in most of the 44 local governments of the state ahead of a possible declaration of his intention to contest the 2015 governorship election.

But his spokesperson yesterday described the reports as false, saying his boss has not told anyone that he was eyeing the Kano governorship seat.

“Our main focus now is not to jostle for any governorship seat but to ensure that we have fulfilled our promises of delivering the dividends of democracy to our people. All these rumours are being caused by agents of the PDP in order to cause confusion and destabilize our party, the All Progressives Congress”, he said.

“The deputy governor is not the one initiating any campaign activities; it is his supporters who want him to contest that are doing this. If the deputy governor can stand by his principal for 16 years, then I don’t see any reason why he would not stand by him now. He is willing to support Kwankwaso and obey whichever directives he receives from him”, Dawakin Kudu added.
