Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State yesterday insisted that the current wave of insecurity in Nigeria will surely come to an end for good.
Wamakko, who noted that the situation has gotten to a stage whereby everybody is forced to ask whether they are safe in the country, urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the country, recalling that the country has gone through trying times before and prevailed.
Speaking at the Government House when MTN Foundation Security Support Project presented five patrol vans to the Sokoto State Police Command, Wamakko also noted that security is a collective responsibility.
“Security is the duty of each and every one of us. You don’t need to be knowledgeable to arrest criminals but your effort in providing useful information to the relevant authorities matters a lot hence it could help in arresting the menace. And with such support, we can collectively overcome the insecurity situation in the country”, he said.
The governor called on the security agencies as well as other Nigerians to work together to ensure the safety of the lives and property in the country. He also advocated better equipment for the security agencies.
“Let our mothers continue to pray for the country that our current challenges should become a thing of the past. We must work hard to ensure the security of lives no longer excuses. We must equip our security agencies to enable them overcome”, he said.
