Dream Team VI Depart for the Crunch Tie in Lusaka

Nigeria under-23 national team set out for Lusaka this afternoon for a crucial All-Africa Games qualifier against Zambia on Sunday.

The Dream Team VI left the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport aboard a Kenya Airways flight, with a contingent of 18 players.

Having played out a goalless draw in the first leg in Abuja over three weeks ago, Nigeria are hoping to pull off a shocker at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka to advance into the Men’s Football Tournament of the All-Africa Games.

Coach Samson Siasia have named three Flying Eagles players in the squad, but defender Musa Muhammed has not travelled to Zambia after absconding from camp. Mohammed took permission to go collect his international passport in Lagos and failed to return to camp.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has rebuked the under-20 captain for his infamous disappearance.

“It will be an understatement for me to say the Nigeria Football Federation is disappointed by the behaviour of Musa Muhammed. This is someone who should be a role model for Nigerian youth,” NFF General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi told theNFF.com.

He added: “Whoever is found to be culpable in this shameful act will be punished.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria U-23 team are optimistic of victory in Lusaka. The winner of the reverse will claim a spot in the Men’s Football Tournament of the All-Africa Games.
