Guber Polls: Buhari Urges Supporters to Shun Violence, Provocation

Muhammadu BuhariGov. Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto State says the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has urged APC supporters nationwide to shun violence and provocation while celebrating his victory.

Wamakko passed down the message in Sokoto on Saturday at the monthly stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress.

“I was with Buhari two days ago in Abuja and this was his main message to the members and supporters of the party in the country.

“While celebrating we should be cautious so as not to endanger the lives of others, cause violence or destruction of property, and or cause the killing or maiming of other Nigerians”, Wamakko, said.

According to the governor, without peace and unity, the much-needed change cannot be brought about successfully by the incoming APC-led Administration.

He said that the meeting was to show appreciation to God for the “invaluable and epoch-making successes recorded by the APC during the landmark March 28 general elections”.

“The meeting was convened to review the feat achieved by the party, show appreciation to God and the people of the state and chart the way forward.

“The members of the party and the generality of the people of the state should come out en masse on April 11 for the governorship and state assembly elections.

“We should all troop to the polling stations on that day and give massive votes to the party’s candidates”, Wamakko appealed.

The acting chairman of the APC in the state, Alhaji Usman Danmadamin-Isa, promised that the members of the party have confidence in the party leaders and candidates.

“We have to continue to emulate and cherish the sterling leadership qualities of Buhari, Wamakko and the other APC leaders at all levels and across Nigeria”, he added.

The meeting was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and APC governorship candidate in the state, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal and the Speaker of the state assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Tureta, among others. (NAN)
