In his Easter message while speaking with reporters at the Government House, Akure on Friday, Mimiko congratulated Buhari for his victory at the recent presidential elections and commended President Goodluck Jonathan “for his show of sportsmanship”.
The governor, who was coordinator of the Jonathan Campaign in the South-West, also appealed to the newly elected president to work towards fulfilling his electoral promises to the Nigerian electorate, particularly on bringing about change, which was the central focus of his campaign.
Governor Mimiko, who assured of his administration’s partnership with the incoming All Progressives Congress-led administration in moving the country forward, also congratulated President Jonathan for calling to concede defeat and congratulate Buhari, even before the final collation of results.
He described the act as a step in the right direction to further deepen Nigeria’s democracy.
Meanwhile, Mimiko in his Easter message, enjoined the people of the state to emulate the love demonstrated by God to mankind by making His son a sacrifice for the sin of the world.
