Glo Premier League champions Kano Pillars failed to could not advance from the first round of the Caf Champions League after failing to overturn a 4-0 deficit against Moghreb Tetouan at home.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side defeated their Moroccan counterpart 2-1 at the Sani Abacha Stadium, but crashed out 5-2 on aggregate.
The Moroccan champions stunned the home crowd three minutes after the hour mark through the usual suspect Mouchine Lajour- his fourth goal against Pillars this season.
Tony Edjomareigwe helped Pillars restore parity on 61 minutes and Rabiu Ali doubled Sai Masu Gida’s lead a minute from time.
The goals were insufficient for coach Okey Emordi’s side to advance into the second round of Africa’s club football showpiece.
Four-time NPFL champions Pillars have yet to reach the group stages since their semi-finals berth in their maiden appearance in 2009. They were eliminated by Congolese club AS Vita in the preliminary round last year.
