Rivers Community Cries Out to Buhari “Help Recover Soku Oil Wells From Bayelsa”

Oil-wellThe people of Akuku-Toru local government area of Rivers State have pleaded with the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), to help them recover their Soku oil wells, which were ceded to Bayelsa State by the administration of the out-going President Goodluck Jonathan.


Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of the local government, Chief Fenibo Jack, in a statement issued in Abonnema, headquarters of the council, expressed the hope that the oil wells, which pitched Governor Rotimi Amaechi against President Jonathan, would be returned to Rivers, if the matter is judiciously looked into.


Jack said, “We appeal to you to look into the unresolved issue of our oil Well in Soku, wrongly ceded to Bayelsa state. We believe that the matter will be judiciously looked into and oil Well returned to us”.


The council chairman, who congratulated Buhari on his victory at the just-concluded presidential elections, assured him of the support and cooperation of the people of the area in the task of serving the Nigerian masses.


He said, “Your Excellency, the good people of Akuku-Toru local government of Rivers state congratulate you on your well-deserved victory on the March 28 Presidential election.


“We see your victory as a call to serve the people and we wish to identify with you as you prepare to steer the ship of our great country. We assure you of our support, cooperation in the task of serving the masses”.
