Teachers, Engineer Abducted In Delta

Gunmen recently invaded a secondary school in Awhire-Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, kidnapping two teachers and one engineer attached to a contracting firm working in the community.

The kidnappers reportedly stormed the school premises at about midday and took the three victims in the full glare of the students and other teachers of the school who watched helplessly, according to Saturday Vanguard.

The two teachers abducted are Mrs Elizabeth Ureubu and Mr Emma Ekperu, an impeccable source told Vanguard.

The heavily armed kidnappers who went to the school with a motorcycle, also kidnapped one engineer working on a project in the community on their way out.

Lamenting that the teachers were driven out of the school premises in the Honda Accord car belonging to Mrs Elizabeth Ureubu, the source said they immediately alerted the police and other security agents of the development.

According to the source, the Honda Accord car was later found same day at Omovwodoiribo-Agbarha-otor, a nearby village, abandoned, adding that; “the car has since been towed to the Agbarha-otor police station.”

On whether contact has been established with the suspected kidnappers, the source said no, decrying that; “the whereabouts of the teachers are still not known as I speak with you. We have resigned to fate; believing God for His intervention. Since that day the incident happened till this very moment, nobody has heard from them”.

The Area Commander, Ughelli Area Command, Mr Awosola Awotunde confirmed the incident saying that the police was on top of the matter, expressing hope that the kidnappers would be arrested and brought to book.
