Ex-Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, Chief Kashimawo Laloko, has ridiculed the invitation of on-loan Norwich City defender Joseph Yobo for Wednesday’s international friendly against Mexico.
The Super Eagles skipper,33, who returned to England from Turkish outfit Fenerbahce on loan for the rest of the season in January, is one of the 23 players invited by coach Stephen Keshi for the March 5th 2014 Fifa World Cup warm-up in Atlanta, USA.
Laloko questioned Yobo’s involvement in the squad, saying: “What is Yobo coming to do that he has not done. If (Stephen) Keshi puts him in the team, he’ll regret it.
“The man is old. He has done enough and I think he should go and rest.
“There’s so much pressure on Keshi to take Yobo. Yobo is overspent. Keshi would remember that I was the one who invited Yobo to Malaga to start his career and the year 2000 to date is 14 years .”
The former Everton and Olympique de Marseille centre-back has featured twice for the Cannaries, including Sunday’s 4-1 loss at Aston Villa.
