Nigeria resumed training on Friday, as President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the sum of $3.805m (6.20m Naira) as appearance fee for the Super Eagles at the 2014 World Cup.
Senate President David Mark is expected to return to Brazil on Saturday, leading a high-powered Presidential delegation. Mark watched the Eagle play out to a goalless draw against Iran in their opening Group F fixture less than two weeks ago.
President Jonathan has once again delved into the pay row in the Eagles camp after the team embarked on a training strike on Thursday to press home their demand for bonus payment.
The president is reportedly in contact with the team, in a bid to encourage the players ahead of a crucial second round game.
On a much encouraging note, Nigeria team has since resumed training ahead of Monday’s last-16 clash with France. Eagles thronged on to the training ground hours after they arrived the Brazilian capital city of Brasilia.
All 23 players and technical officials led by coach Stephen Keshi were on the flight that landed at 4:07pm local time (8:07pm Nigerian time) on Friday.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) vice-president, Chief Mike Umeh, and Shehu Dikko were also on the flight to Brasilia, venue of the second round match against ‘Les Bleus’.
The Eagles are presently based at the Plaza Brasilia.
