Open Letter To The APC Gubernatorial Candidate Of Niger State

Dear incoming Governor,

Our State has come to a crossroad, and now we have the power to change the political landscape of Niger State. As I have said time and time again, if we elect you to be our governor, there are several things we would like you to do to ensure that our needs are met day in and day out across the state.

First of all, propose new laws that will invest more tax in our public schools, not only to meet the needs of today, but to encourage developing minds for the future. Such new funding would be used to hire and retain good teachers, build and renovate new schools, and give great incentives to classroom teachers. To accomplish this, I am proposing rechanneling of our existing tax revenue to meet these demands.

The incumbent and his staff have been talking about this for years with little progress.

We plan to change all of this now.

Second, economic development is on the minds of most of us, particularly with regard to our rural areas. For many years, economic prosperity has been neglected by current government leaders, and we want you to change all of that. I am proposing an industrial center revitalization project that would promote new businesses and new residential areas to bring people back to the heart of our dear state.

Current leaders have allowed the new state to die, preferring to invest in their own private gardens home and abroad.

And third, I am proposing the revamping of our state transport system, to meet the growing demands of better and more efficient transportation for years to come.

The present administration have lacked the vision of long-term solutions, preferring to take a look and see approach. Such a short sighted stance fails to consider the needs of future generations . . . our children and our grandchildren.

Our generation doesn’t want to be remembered for bad roads we patched today, but for good roads we built for the future.

And finally, your opponent has cited your inexperience as a reason why we shouldn’t vote for you.

However, we know, you are not a career politician who has lost touch with the everyday needs and concerns of day-to-day people. Your experience as a businessman has given you a unique perspective on the pains and challenges people face.

When elected, we want you to give your all to your elected position and make sure your issues and concerns are actually addressed at the local and national level.
