Representatives of Kenneth Omeruo has asked Chelsea FC to double its offer for the Nigeria international.
Omeruo’s Holland-based adviser, Chika Akujobi, says the Super Eagles defender is not injured, following a report on local media that the Middlesborough centre-back suffered an injury in his club’s 3-1 win over Barnsley at the weekend.
“Kenneth just got a cramp during the game and rather than a risk aggravating it, he asked to be replaced. It’s nothing serious,” Akujobi is quoted as saying on AfricanFootball.com.
Premier League outfit Chelsea have tabled a new three-year-deal for the 21-year-old , whose contract runs until June 2015.
Speaking to AfricanFootball.com, Akujobi said the player deserves at least twice what the ‘Blues’ have proposed to him.
“We want them to double the offer, but they said they have a new policy for young players who have yet to break into their first team and this ensures they do not go overboard with their offers,” Akujobi maintained.
“But Keneth has already proved himself in the English Championship which is even more forceful and physical than the English Premier League, which ismore about tactics.”
Akujobi adds he expects the club to respond to the player’s demand, saying: “Chelsea have to come up and they have to do so soon, before the club go on summer holiday.”
