Bordeaux’s Lamine Sane Out Until November

Senegal international Lamine Sane has been ruled out for 5 to 7 weeks with a knee injury, his French club Bordeaux has confirmed.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who can also play as a central defender, injured his right knee during his side’s 2-1 win over Evian Thonon Gaillard at the Stade Chaban-Delmas last month.

Bordeux said in a statement: “Lamine Sane underwent successful surgery this morning in Marseille. He will quickly begin his rehabilitation. He would be absent between 5 and 7 weeks.”

Bordeaux are second in the Ligue 1 table after 8 rounds of matches and visit Stade Reims on Friday.

Sane could return for Willy Sagnol side’s trip to current leaders Olympique des Marseille on 22 November should recovery go as planned.

He will most likely not be available for selection for the rest of the ‘Teranga Lions’s’ Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
