Glo Premier League: Nasarawa Utd Walk Over AWOL Giwa FC

Nasarawa United walked over Giwa FC after the latter refused to show up for a Glo Premier League twice-rescheduled Match Day 35 fixture in Abuja on Thursday.

Jos-based side, Giwa FC, who were banished to the Fifa Goal Project, Abuja, following crowd disturbance, were absent 30 minutes after the scheduled kick-off time, prompting Centre Referee, M. A. Sule, to conclude walk-over formalities and blow for final whistle.

The match was initially rescheduled for Wednesday, 29 October, but the LMC shifted it to the day after because the ‘Jos Elephants’ failed to arrive at the venue, citing they had thought a Fifa ban was in place.

The League Management Company (LMC) granted them “a 24-hour reprieve to honour the match on Thursday” and communicated Nasarawa United about the unforeseen changes.

“We have walked over Giwa, the formalities for that have been done,” Nasarawa chairman Isaac Danladi is quoted as saying on AfricanFootball.com. “We were to have played against them on Wednesday, but we got a mail from LMC that the game has been shifted till Thursday and we abided by the instruction.”

Nasarawa now have 59 points from 36 matches and remain in fourth position.
