President Jonathan Negotiates Keshi’s Return as Eagles Coach

Several top Sources have confirmed that President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the reinstatement of ex-Nigeria international Stephen Keshi as coach of the Super Eagles for the remaining two Afcon qualifiers.

Keshi was dismissed as coach of the African champions following a difficult start to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers, in which Nigeria have recorded four points from a possible 12.

President Jonathan had an emergency meeting with Nigeria football stakeholders at the Aso Villa on Wednesday night and ordered that the 52-year-old tactician returns to the national team and that Shuaibu Amadu, who replaced him, “step down”.

Keshi has refused to comment on the recent development, but an official statement is expected soon.

The Eagles will face Congo and South Africa in their remaining matches of the final 2015 Afcon qualifier next month. They require maximum points from those matches to retain hopes of grabbing at automatic ticket for the tournament, scheduled for Morocco between January 17 to February 8.
