Caf to Inspect Akwa Ibom Stadium for Nigeria-Bafana Clash

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) will send officials to inspect the brand-new Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo- proposed venue for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifying match between hosts Nigeria and South Africa in November.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has assured African football’s governing body of the quality of the ultra-modern facility and the readiness of the Akwa Ibom State Government to guarantee safety and security at the match.

Caf had raised concerns that the venue had not been inspected but, on Tuesday, agreed to send an official to check out the venue next week.

The 30,000 capacity, all-covered facility with bullet-proof State Box for 70 persons, is one of the most magnificent sporting infrastructures on the African continent. It will be officially commissioned on Thursday, November 6.

The showdown between the Super Eagles and South Africa is slated for Wednesday, November 19.
