As Dr Kayode Fayemi prepares to leave the Ekiti State governorship seat, the Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr. Akinfolarin Feyisola has directed him to declare his “end of tenure assets” before his tenure expires.
Feyisola, who made this known on Sunday, while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, said that all the affected public officers, including the outgoing deputy governor and other political office holders, had been duly informed.
According to him, it was mandatory for every political office holder in all parts of the country to declare their assets when coming and leaving office, with defaulters usually dragged before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for going against the law.
He noted that in compliance with the law, some political office holders had started collecting the assets declaration forms after receiving the remainder of the constitutional provision, but the current closure of all courts in the state had stalled swearing of affidavit and other court processes needed.
He however advised other political office holders who are yet to obtain the asset declaration form to ensure they do so, pending the re-opening of the court.
