Quique Sanchez Flores has announced he is stepping down as head coach of Getafe less than two months after taking over the reins of the Madrid club.
The 49-year-old made the surprise announcement at a press conference on Thursday.
Sanchez Fores said: “I would like to announce today my decision to resign as coach of Getafe.
“This is a personal decision, a product of a vital reflection in order not to repeat situations that in the past did not make me happy. This is the best way to dignify myself and my profession.

“I want to thank my players who have behaved extraordinarily well and the fans that have given me all the support. I would also like to thank the club for allowing me to return and feel like a coach again for two months.”
According to reports in Spain, Milinko Pantic, Bernd Schuster and Toril are being considered as possible replacement for Quique.
Sanvhez Flores arrived at Getafe for a second spell as manager on 5 January from Dubai side Al-Ain. He replaced Romanian tactician Cosmin Contra, who had left to work in the Chinese League.
Sanchez Flores’ resignation comes on the same day Getafe midfielder Jorge Sammir announced he was leaving the club to join a Chinese team.
Financially-troubled Getafe are 13 in the La Liga table, four points above the relegation zone. Getafe won four league matches under Sanchez Flores. They are away to Malaga on Sunday.
