Sani Kaita- I Joined Enyimba for “Football Reasons”

Former Super Eagles midfielder Sani Kaita has refuted claims that his move to reigning Federation Cup holders, Enyimba FC, signal a decline in the player’s status.

The ex-AS Monaco and Lokomotiv Moscow playmaker returned to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) last week, and is believed to have penned a loan deal with the ‘People’s Elephant’, following his failed expedition in Cyprus where he was on loan to Olympiakos Nicosia.

In a telephone interview with Daily Trust, the former Kano Pillars playmaker, 27, dismissed claims that he is a finished footballer.

“People are wrong about my transfer to Enyimba, it is purely for football reasons, I still have a lot to offer as a player that’s why I came to the place where they’ll have confidence in me to perform,” Kaita, famous for his red card in Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Greece at the 2010 World Cup, following a ridiculous lunge at Vasilis Torosidis, said.

“After my surgery, the only thing on my mind at the moment is to get back to playing as soon as possible.”
