Why I Did Not Attend APC Convention – Atiku

Former Vice- President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was conspicuosly missing at Wednesday’s Special Convention of the All Progressive Congress (APC) but he has explained why he was part of the gathering.

“I was scheduled to return to Nigeria yesterday from a quick business trip abroad, but could not, due to last minute logistics changes,@ said Atiku via his Facebook account.

He therefore expressed apologies to the leaders and supporters of the party.

APC convened the extraordinary national convention to amend the party’s constitution and adopt a revised manifesto. It was also an opportunity for the presidential aspirants to address delegates of the party. The meeting was also convened, according to opinions in some quarters, to discuss the option of choosing a consensus candidate to represent the party at the 2015 presidential election.

Some of the presidential aspirants who addressed delegates at the convention include Kano state governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, his Imo state counterpart Rochas Okorocha, Former military Head of State, General Mohammadu Buhari, and Leadership newspaper publisher Nda Isaiah.
