Hull 0-3 Newcastle: Ameobi Scores in 1st Win Under Carver

Sammy Ameobi scored his second goal of the season to help Newcastle claim a comfortable 3-0 win at Hull City.

Remy Cabella opened his goal-scoring account for the season when he slotted in Newcastle’s first from 20 yards to ensure the Magpies take the lead into the break.

Hull’s Egyptian winger Ahmed Elmohamady had the ball in the net using his fist in first half injury time, but his celebration was cut short by referee Phil Dowd.

Ameobi drilled an absolute belter into the far corner before Yoan Gouffran’s shot wrong-footed goalkeeper Alan McGregor after taking a deflection off Elmohamady’s body.

Hull have won just two of their last 13 Premier League games and are down in the relegation zone with 19 points from 23 games.

The win was ‘Magpies’ caretaker boss John Carver’s first since Alan Pardew’s departure to Crystal Palace and they are rest assured of some few hours berth in the top half of the table.
