Spanish club Rayo Vallecano have honoured ex-Nigeria international goalkeeper Wilfred Agbonavbare by naming a gate at their Stadium after him.
Agbonavbare lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday and passed on at a hospital in Spain.
The board of directors at Rayo Vallecano, the club where he had a six-year spell, has after an extraordinary meeting held on Wednesday decided to immortalise him by renaming Gate 1 Vallecas Stadium “Gate Wilfred Agbonavbare.”
The La Liga outfit, on behalf of the family of the late goalkeeper, also expressed gratitude to fans for the countless signs of affection that have been coming to the club on a sad day for everyone.

The remains of late Wilfred was laid to rest in Spain with Rayo president and other dignitaries in attendance.
His children, Wilson and Wintia, arrived Spain on Wednesday morning to witness their father’s burial.
The Campo de FĂștbol de Vallecas is a 15,500 all-sitter facility opened May 10, 1976.
