Liverpool are in a late scramble for Burnley striker Danny Ings.
Ings is in the last six months of his contract at Turf Moor and a target for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur and Spanish club Real Sociedad.
But manager Brendan Rodgers will plot a transfer coup for the 22-year-old before the close of the January transfer window on Monday.
The northern Irish boss is willing to loan the England U-21 back to Burnley for the rest of the season to serve as an incentive for a possible agreement as Sean Dyche is not willing to part with his top scorer yet.
Liverpool would have to pay a fee if they sign Ings at the end of his contract, as he is under 24.
Ings joined Burnley from Bournemouth in August 2011 for a fee of around £1m. He helped the Clarets win promotion to the top flight last season, scoring 21 times in the Championship. He has scored seven league goals this season.
