Stuttgart Complete Serey Die Signing from Basel

Ivory Coast international Geoffroy ‘Serey Die’ Gonzaroua has completed a two-and-a-half-year transfer from FC Basel to German Bundesliga club Stuttgart.

Serey Die, who joined Basel from fellow Swiss club FC Sion in December 2012, started his career playing for Centre National in Abidjan aged 14.

He had subsequent stints with three different clubs in his native Ivory Coast before joining Tunisian outfit EO Goulette et Kram in 2006, whence he moved to Entete Sportive de Setif and won the 2007-08 Arab Champions League with the Algerian outfit.

He moved to Europe a year later, joining forces with FC Sion and going on to claim two Swiss Cup winner’s medal between 2008 and 2012.

“In Serey Die we have found exactly the experienced players, we’ve been looking for as a landmark for our young players,” Stuttgart director of football, Robin Dutt, said.

“Die is an experienced international, who will give stability to our game with his uncompromising style of play.”
