Manchester United midfielder Angel Di Maria will not be fit for Tuesday’s visit of Stoke City after withdrawing in the first half of Saturday’s win over Hull City.
The Argentine limped off after 13 minutes of his side’s 3-0 thrashing of The Tigers at Old Trafford with what appeared a hamstring injury.
Manager Louis van Gaal said after the match: “he (Angel) did not come off as a precaution- he is out of Tuesday’s game against Stoke City. It’s too close.
“But we will have to wait and see how bad is. We will know more tomorrow.”
He was replaced by Ander Herrera, who assisted Robin van Persie for the Red Devils’ third goal. Chris Smalling had opened scoring for the hosts before Di Maria’s injury.
On Wayne Rooney, who limped off at the final whistle with an ankle knock, the Dutch boss added: “He said to me he is fine to play against Stoke.”
Di Maria adds to United’s injury list, with defender Luke Shaw, Phil Jones, Rafael and midfielder Daley Blind all out on the treatment table.
