Kano State Governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirant, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has advised President Goodluck Jonathan to respect the constitution and drop his ambition to re-contest in 2015.
Kwankwaso, who was in Gusau, Zamfara State, to meet with delegates ahead of his party’s primary election, told newsmen in an interview on Friday that the Nigerian constitution was very clear on the tenure of governors and president.
“The constitution is very clear. The current president has so far spent six years. If he now contest and win, it means he will spend 10 years in office”, Kwankwaso said.
He maintained that President Jonathan should be reminded that “he is not a traditional ruler who can be on the throne till death but rather a president who has a time frame”.
The APC presidential aspirant then called on Nigerians to resist any attempt by Mr. Jonathan to go against the constitution.
