Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has blamed the sorry state of Rivers economy on the Presidency.
“The political economy of Rivers State has been stagnated by the Presidency and their detractors. They do not mean well for our state,” said Amaechi, at an interactive session with students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (UOE), Port Harcourt.
He also dismissed insinuations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was an Islamic party with hidden intentions to Islamise the country, noting that the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and some other national leaders of the party, were Christians.
Amaechi also allege that the PDP was presenting an Ogboni (cult). “The PDP man who they want to bring as their gubernatorial candidate is an Ogboni man and not a Christian,” he said.
He expressed surprise at the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to present an Ikwerre man as their governorship candidate. “I am an Ikwerre man who has ruled for eight years and I am surprised to hear that the PDP is jostling to bring another Ikwerre governor in 2015,” he said.
He however appealed to residents of the state to ensure they collect their permanent voters card, so as to be empowered to vote in the forthcoming elections.
