Seventh seed Milos Raonic dismissed Czech’s Thomas Berdych in the semi-finals of the Paris masters following a hard-fourth three-setter on Saturday.
The big-serving Canadian fired 8 winners and blasted 5 aces to beat fifth seed Berdych 6-3 3-6 7-5 and reach his second Masters 1000 finals.
The win was a revenge for his two-set last 16 loss to Berdych last year in Bercy, improving to 2-1 in the head-to-head record over the 2005 champion.
The 23-year-old, who lifted the Citi Open crown in Washington about two months ago, became the first Canadian to qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals on Friday following his quarter-final win over Roger Federer and Kei Nishikori’s success over David Ferrer later that day.
He will face the winner of the replay of the US Open semi-final between Top seed Novak Djokovic and sixth seed Kei Nishikori on Sunday.
